Since I'm a contemporary and pop dancer, I stretch, run, and well, dance a lot. However, I have almost never done any working out exercises concerning lifting weights or anything of that sort. I kind of overestimated myself.. I thought I could lift 50 pounds on whatever that machine in the gym that's kind of like a bench press but you raise your arms higher while lifting weights and you're sitting up straight. It was easy for the first 10 repetitions, but it got difficult afterwards. I saw some super bulky daily-workout men there and they seemed all grunt-y and stuff, so I figured it just meant the workout was working, as long as I was still able to continue. After 3 sets of 10 repetitions, I was tired, but I continued to run, and then more arm-related workouts, etc. etc. Now, 2 days after the workout, I can't even lift my left arm or bring my left arm closer to me without feeling some serious pain.. Anyone know how to get rid of this pain?

Are you referring to a shoulder press machine? You've probably just ripped your muscles too much. Working out is making micro-tears in your muscle, and your body fixes them up with a little bit extra so the end result is bigger muscles. I remember the first time I worked out that my arms were crazy sore as well. It should go away by a week.

Ahh I remember my first week. I couldn't lift a glass of water because my biceps were so sore. Don't worry that just happens in the beginning.

[/quote] well my first day at the gym, my mom dragged me into the boot camp class, which is extremely hardcore, and 2 days after it, everytime i would walk my legs would buckle underneath me, and thats odd since i usually do a lot of running for tennis anyways. I had to hold on to walls while going anywhere lmao.

Its NORMAL. Your trying to build up muscle by "pushing" your muscles to their limits. When you reach a breaking point, your muscles "break" and "regrow" to withstand more "exercising", which creates more muscle(s).

Why would you want to build muscles anyways ._. Of course it hurts. You probably ripped your muscles. Let it be. It'll go away soon

You're best bet is to get a good answer from a well experienced person such as Dimo. Just work out until you reach your limit, doing 1 hour a day max is usually recommended. As well make sure you get enough rest, or else you're body will get too worn out. Take days off from working out if you feel too sore/muscle pain.

It's supposed to hurt, that means you're doing it right. Muscles tear when you work out and grow back even stronger, like saiyans.
