Could be the imbalance in noise going in one ear but not the other. Try putting an ear plug in the ear on the side that you rest the violin on.

Hey man, honestly, playing violins a complete waste of time (found that out today) I started violin when i was in 1st grade, (now im in 11th) and i just got put into an alternate position for this "All-state" festival. Basically what ive been practicing for all these years has gone to waste. gg fml
