You raise 1 ship, 1 elemental boost, 1 wrath of oct, then max cannon, 1 on torp, then max ship, 5 on rapidfire, then max bullseye (to anego/zak) OR For Training, max torp. After both skills are maxed or atleast one of them is, you can raise anything you want, such as rapidfire or mw9/19 EDIT: Debating isnt going to lead us anywhere, let us all put our brains into this and make a GOOD skill point build for future corsairs to be. The skill build for corsairs in basil isnt the best, and no one is brave enough to speak up.

seems fine, the important thing i heard is to max cannon and ship early, since you use them for both bossing/training =]. I am a lil curious why you want to put 5 in rapid fire instead of 1 though. I also put 1 in airstrike just for the fun of having an ultimate and seeing birds fly lol, but thats just personal preference. edit: in response to the ts's response two posts below. I guess thats personal preference too, cause at the moment i have lvl 1 rapid fire and it works great when my ship breaks. I wouldn't try to rely on it too much / put too much sp into it cause cannon is always gonna be much better than rapid fire. I think some people did the calculations and lvl 1 rapid fire > lvl 20 burst fire, but you can google it and check out the details if you're interested.

1 on torp is really quite unnecessary as it does about the same damage as ice spitter with glaze capsules. Also, I found that 5 on rapid fire was still worse than burst fire. (Yes, it is /technically/ stronger, but it is less mobile and must be recasted every time you're hit. I also heard that there was more damage reduction from defence of monsters on rapid fire than there was on burst fire, but idk.) I'd suggest maxing bullseye after cannon, as torp isn't essential for training.

@ SeriousSeller 1 rapid fire would mean that you are raising that skill for the "lulz" 5 means you are serious and you will use it when your ship breaks. @Pathological That 1 on torp is actually for the "lulz" everyone did it, i still am waiting to meet that corsair with 0 torp. But torp is essential for skeleing. I know people who 2~3hko with lvl 21 torp (6 mobber). That sure beats the 1v1 skele method with cannon. 5 Rapid fire may not be as mobile, but if your speaking statistics with time involved, rapidfire wins with a long shot.

I actually had 0 torp until level 156.. LOL. :B I must admit that it was tempting to put points into though. And yes, torp is a good mob move, but you might as well invest 11 points into it if you decide to put points in it at all. Overall though, I would take bullseye over torp due to more efficient bossing: it allows you to do daily zarm runs (which or now extremely simple to set up with the new expedition system) and anego much more easily, while torp only slightly aids in mob training. Not to say torp isn't useful- just I find bullseye more useful. And I'm not sure after the balance patch, but pre-balance patch level 5 RF was still about on par with burst fire. If you're looking for a stronger 1 vs 1, you can invest those 5 points into bullseye and use burst fire for an overall stronger DPM. During mobs, the difference between rapid fire (at level 5) and burst fire is minimal- literally a difference of a split second, if that. Yes, I love bullseye, so I'm kinda bias. haha.

If you're going for Rapid fire being stronger than Burst Fire...isn't Rapid fire stronger now at lvl 1 since the balance patch?

That's a pretty silly build. Instead of getting Octo right away, I suggest level 1 torp. Getting 1 torp after you've maxed Cannon is a bit pointless. Getting it before starting cannon will give you decent mobbing damage out of the gate. Octo, you can get at level 121 and still have 11 cannon by 124. Maxing the ship next is a good idea. After that it gets opinion based. I personally would suggest getting torp up to 21 before you start on bullseye. Unless you're in some kind of boss run regularly, or you're in a world that lets you train on bosses, bullseye does not come in that handy. But this is coming from a guy in Bera where there are no bosses to train on, and the only regular bosses I fight are Ergoth and Scarlion. Rapid Fire, you can just stick a point into that whenever. But getting 5 points in it won't do anything great for your damage. Just 1 point is fine. Should be on your ship most of the time anyways.
It's quite easy to duo zak arms nowadays with the expedition system, which provide a good ~15% a day or so on 2x for me (with HS and 2x). There's also anego if you're patient enough to surf. I guess there's also an occasionally CWKPQ (although generally it's not as great for exp because people care more about efficiency than exp there) and pap, which is a good source of pots. Agreed with everything else you mentioned though. (: If you aren't into bossing and don't mind waiting till late 15x for bullseye, then go torp.

I dont see how lvl 1 torp will help corsairs at newt. oct plays slightly a bigger role.

I think that if you're going to get a point into ship, you might as well use it. Have you tried going to the bottom right of newties? Torp really works there, hitting 3 at a time, much better than having one more octopus. Also, newties aren't the only training ground for early sairs. Galloperas are great with level one torp. Skeles are a nice option too. And there's always nightshadows. I don't see how getting octo at 121 instead of 120 is such a big deal. Burst Fire is a fine alternative to rapid fire. Jumping and shooting is great for training. Rapid Fire loses much more damage due to defense than Burst Fire does. But if you really want to sprout wings, go ahead, I said to put a point into it whenever didn't I? @Eagerly Yeah, bossing just isn't my cup of tea. That duo arms thing sounds kind of neat. I'm assuming that it's faster than grinding for 15%?
bottom right is where corsairs are recommended to train on with a party. lvl 1 torp will not be a huge impact in your damage, it only slows you down.

Okay then, let's say there are two level 120 sairs. One of them went and got torp. One got octo. Bottom right should be the best place for both of them. Corsair A (who got torp) is doing 390% damage to 3 monsters 77 times a minute (or 90,090% dpm). Corsair B (who got wrath) is doing 630% damage to 1 monster 87 times a minute (or 54,810% dpm). So you're saying that almost doubling your dpm isn't a huge impact on damage? OH RIGHT! Corsair B has 1 more octo than Corsair A. That will totally bridge the gap between them.

alright, so if you 2hko newts, and since torp is lvl 1, it shouldn't inflict much damage, above 7hko. i think finishing off 3 newts would be faster with cannon. You can dub this logic with other case scenarios with #hko. my argument isnt that oct>torp dmg. torp just slows you down.
