(I'm Canadian.) So I went south of the border today to avoid paying the stupid HST on goods in BC, and to take advantage of discount prices and sales in the USA. ... Everything is so cheap compared to Canada it's not even funny. Collectively, my family probably saved about ~$300 buying stuff from the States, the majority of which came from a Coach Bag from the Seattle Premium Outlets mall that was apparently $200 cheaper than it was in Canada. I myself bought a pair of A&F jeans that were $80 American compared to $120 Canadian... >> Select video games were already downpriced from $5-20 at GameStop and Target compared to the retailers here at Vancouver. There is also more variety on stuff you can buy. D: Also, Ben and Jerry's is $2.27 only at WinCo Foods Supermarket, while it's like $6-8 here in Canada. What the hell. @_@ I also actually kind of like the brand of American patriotism and nationalism you guys have down south, while here it's just a bit dull and people seem to be more passive about their Canadian identity. For sure, you guys have more fun on your 4th of July celebrations than we do on our Canada Day things. I saw an American flag about every 30 seconds at my time in the States. American cities also seem more lively and make my hometown Vancouver seem like a ghost town, at least when compared to Seattle. The streets are filled with cars and people, the majority of which were very nice and accommodating. The Interstate highway system is also easier to use and more efficient than the Trans-Canada highways here, partly because the Interstate has less turns, no traffic lights, 3 lanes compared to 2, which make for a constant drive at the speed limit wherever you're going which means you're going to get there fast. I went around Washington State and Seattle, by the way. So how do you Americans like your own country? I'm Canadian and this one visit has got me thinking of moving out when I grow older.

Apparently when my Canadian cousin's family came with us to a county fair, there were tons of people (crowds), and people were singing loud, screaming from the rides. And my cousin's wife told me Americans are so 'High.' So apparently, we really are high o.o~! I'm used to it though :D

@xxSwirl Lawl, I haven't been to Bellingham because I mostly shopped at Alderwood, that Seattle Premium Outlets place and Seattle downtown. My mom thinks that the Burlington Outlet Mall is depressing and not as good as the other places though... >> @xxjuicy Cheaper's a bit of an understatement when everything is on sale. >> On two unrelated side notes, there are buses that can take you there and back so your dad doesn't have to drive, and Macy's One Day sales are only on Saturday. D: @tiganior1 Yeah, I guess we have that. The USA's getting medicare or whatever though, and I don't know too much about it but it sounds like it's going to try to give everyone what we have here: medical insurance/healthcare for uninsured people.

I like it because I know I'm a lot more fortunate than the majority of the world, but I'd like to travel. I'm surrounded by ignorant people and homogenized culture on a regular basis.

Yeah, travelling the world is nice, but when it comes to finding a place settling down I kind of want to do it in the States.

If there's one thing I don't like about the US it's their huuuuuge debt. On the way there, there were campaign ads that stated the United States had a $13 trillion dollar debt on signs at the side of the road. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think Medicare will add too much to that... Come to think of it, how are you guys going to take care of $13 trillion worth of debt?

Haters in the U.S are just a bunch of whiny, spoiled, pompous band wagoners. SnackBlockers "Come to think of it, how are you guys going to take care of $13 trillion worth of debt?" By adding on to the debt
