Making a Beginner.

Alright, So my girlfriend and me have decided to make Perma-Beginners for fun, I've tried looking up guides to get a general idea about stats/equips but have not found anything. So basically I am looking for any advice from the Beginner community. .

After looking around the threads abit it seems that Defense is important for beginners? Is that true or is it a joke?

Is that true or is it a joke? [/quote] About the only real combat advantage we have over jobbed characters is our superior DEF formula. Tunas have one of the slowest attack speeds, you can easily swing twice with a 40+ attack Normal speed weapon in the time it takes to swing once with the Tuna. So don't feel like you HAVE to hunt one down. Above all, don't forget to have fun, and ignore the haters. :D

They're also very expensive, and it's an investment that might last you only 10 or 15 levels. I'd rather take a Fish Spear at level 20 for 150K, scroll it for another ~500K, and deal with the (slightly) lower damage. Now to the poster. My suggestions for equips are: 1-9: Doesn't really matter. Stars and Stripes if you can get it. 10-14: Long Sword, though Stars and Stripes beats it. Also, level 10 Tuna, but it costs quite a lot. 15-19: Red Brick. I like it better than the Purse, and it's also faster. I'd ditch the level 10 Tuna at level 15, since it's only useful early on. 20-24: If you must, the beginner Tuna comes up at level 20. If not, go with an Aluminum Baseball Bat, a Gold Snowboard, a Versalmas Cactus, or a Maple Sword during this range. (Also Tuna, but why?) 40-49: No more Tuna here. If you can afford one (they're not cheap!), buy a Glowing Whip, preferably 73+ attack clean. If you can't afford one, keep your 3x weapon or get a Soul Singer. 50-64: Japanese Map. No question. Two handed swords are a beginner's best friend, since they have high, stable damage and are often pretty fast � the Map in particular is Fast(4). Can't afford one? You can always pick up a Dark Snowboard or Blue Valentine Rose at level 48. A Blood Snowboard is an option at 60 if you like cheap pole arms. If you want a stronger, if more (and I mean much more) expensive pole arm, buy a Super Snowboard at level 50. 65-84: If you have a Map, you can either keep it or get a Fan. Otherwise, make the switch no matter what. The Fan is our ultimate weapon right now, since it's Faster(3), has pretty stable damage (if a tiny bit low, but not after the Big Bang Patch), and is a great bossing weapon. For sword lovers, there's always the Black Umbrella, and the Maple Surfboard and Colorful Tube are also options. 85-200: Want a good spear? Well, it's expensive, but you could get a Sky Ski. As for pole arms, good luck getting one of the level 95 Surfboards. Our last weapon is the Crimson Arcglaive, which has 102 attack and Normal(6) speed, a pretty good combination for us. It's tough to make, though, so you might be better off just buying it. Stat build: This depends on your training, and you'll need to know how much accuracy you need to hit a monster. Once you know that, keep your accuracy no lower than 10 below this number. Sniper Pills make up for the difference. For example, if I train on 20 avoid monsters (and I do, in fact), I would need 74 accuracy to always hit them.

It's up to you. 2H Beginners have more damage, while 1H Beginners tend to have more defense.

Glowing Whip is Fast 4 and Black Umbrella is Fast 5. Not to mention the whip adds a lot of speed bonus. Black Umbrellas are only used by LUKless Priests and never by Warriors because the Red Katana is faster and thus superior.

[/quote] Nothing, but instead of thinking about a Black Umbrella or wait for a miracle to happen so you could have enough money AND the opportunity to buy a 100+ ATT Glowing Whip, try to aim for a Yellow Duck Tube as your end-game weapon. If you plan to go that far, otherwise the Black Umbrella is not that bad either.

Yellow Duck Tubes are too rare and expensive to be worthwhile though. Colorful tubes, which are 30 levels lower, only have 5 less attack and since people may have farmed them last patch, they shouldn't be too hard to get ahold of.
