Possibly the best movie I've ever seen in my 18 years of existence. It dwarfs every other move I've seen. Originally, I was to watch it sometime tomorrow, and today I was only going to watch a few minutes of it in order to catch a glimpse, but I just couldn't. To be honest, this movie was nothing like I expected. Just by looking at a few screen shots I was under the impression that this was some sort of prison film filled with violence. It turned out to be the total opposite. I'm speechless right now.

Which is why it is on the IMDB top 250 movies of all time. It is also one of my favourite movies of all time too.

[/quote] Well, clearly if you're a movie junkie you have seen more movies than me. To name a few of the movies I think are comparable to The Shawshank Redemption: Forrest Gump, Stand By Me, and City of God. EDIT: I guess I'm more into films where there's some sort of narration.

It's an underrated film. It's a Best Picture caliber film and would of won that award in most years, instead of a year Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction were released.

It was rated number 1 best movie of all time for a Loooong time, wasn't it? Probably still is. You may also wanna check out 'The Green Mile', by the same director, Frank Darabont. @Clerism Donnie Darko was good, an awesome film, but it's not Shawshanke Redemption Calibre. Everything about that movie was FLAWLESS.
