The Subject of Rollbacks

You need to stop making threads about the possibility of a rollback. You are not thinking about... nevermind, you're not thinking. MapleStory has experienced, in nearly six years of service, one deliberate rollback. It was to save the economy from a train wreck that would consequently ruin the game. Every rollback I can think of, including the 5-day rollback from years ago, was accidental and irreversible, leading to much, much apology and large reimbursement events. My apologies for my aggression here, but I view these reasons for belief of future rollbacks as simply stupid: - A few godly items created by hackers. Have you ever heard of an outlier? If something is too good to be true, it is. A 230 attack craven will be deleted. Will every server be rollbacked, days, because of this? Well, let's think back to duped items - they were deleted. Same case? No. Same solution? Yes. - Pink Scroll Farming. The event was exploited, for sure, but the solution would be the same as the above. And anyway, what bad really came from the exploitation? A few people lost some value in their decent equipment. However, being decent, they did not lose much. Nearly everybody became stronger as a result of this exploitation; it was high yield, low cost. - Item Duping. Do I seriously need to say this again? There are probably some other reasons for believing in a rollback, but I'm quite tired, I've been in a bad mood all day, and anything other than those reasons, even as pathetic as they are, should see no response. Remember, they aren't eager to rollback the game. They hate it. They know we hate it. They know we'll rage if they do, and they know that it's hard work to deal with it. Why the heck would they send us and themselves to hell and back over a few items? Remember that duping currency and duping items are completely different things. Somebody is going to say "well u said stop making threads about rollbacks and here u r making one, wow, way to go." I hope you know that you're really not very intelligent at all if you can't recognize the difference between you going on a massacre, and killing somebody about to go on a massacre. Terrible analogy, but it rings true.

[/quote] They need to, because it's negative hype, it creates needless hate for Nexon (somehow, speculation results in a more negative view of the company, regardless of the validity of the speculation), and it's just spam. I've created two threads on this now - one was more focused on the pink scrolls, and was much more friendly. I've been in a bad mood this whole day, I saw another rollback thread, and then I saw the number of people freaking out over the not-even-close-to-a-possibility of a rollback. I felt it was time to ring these bells again, and shed some light on the truth. An anti-rollback thread needs to be stickied, so that the spam ends.
