Can I trade in an iPod Touch 2nd gen for 3rd gen?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if it is possible to trade in a second gen iPod touch with some money for a 3rd gen. The reason is that I just ordered a second gen one, but everybody keeps telling me that the 3rd gen ipod is much noticably faster, and that the background feature works on it. Just wondering if this is possible on amazon, target, walmart, etc. Thanks!
