Flickering Screen/DC Issue Windows 7 FIXED

Well since I got my new laptop with Windows 7, whenever I get on MS, after a few minutes the screen would flicker between normal and black lines and it would do that until I closed the game. I see a ton of other people are having the same problem or similar problems. I just figured out how to fix it and it worked for me, so maybe it will work for you to. Follow these steps: 1. Click Start > Control Panel 2. Choose Device Manager 3. Expand "Display Adapters" by clicking the little arrow next to it 4. Right click on your graphics card. Mine says Intel(R) HD Graphics, yours might not. Just right click it. 5. Click Update Driver Software 6. Click the top option on the window that pops up, and let it do its thing. It will then ask you to restart your computer so that the changes can be made. Restart your computer and then start up MS. I did this and it worked perfectly and I had no lag, no screen flickering, no DCs. Hope this helps.

it doesnt really work.. my screen keeps flickering in MS ): i tried the whole updating thing, but my display drivers are already up to date.

I was talking about in-game settings for the display. There's a picture quality bar at the top. Anyways, so far it's at the very least reduced my D/Cing. This morning I was d/cing every 10 minutes, even if I was just sitting, and now I haven't since I did this. I don't believe it's the main problem, but a temporary fix is enough for me at this point. I'm still not sure if I can, say, zak without d/cing as soon as it spawns again, but I'll try to find out soon. I know that people running Windows 7 Home Premium and Starter have had this problem, but I am not aware of ANYONE on Ultimate who has had this problem. There's definitely some sort of difference causing a problem... and I know that Maplestory itself is at least partially at fault, as with every patch it gets worse. My computer used to run fine, and without changing anything it's gotten to this, so anyone who says "It's your problem not the game" is full of it and doesn't know what they're talking about. Hopefully you find a way to fix your problem, but you really need to emphasize that this potentially could stop the d/c part of the issues people are having, that way at least some people will be helped! Thanks again, hopefully I stay online. Edit: the problem I'm referring to in that paragraph is the d/cing issue, not this screen flicker, which seems to be new as of the last patch? Edit: Now I have a different problem. I got my friend to use a bunch of mage skills near me, and the skills and NPCs in the game disappeared, leaving the background, platforms, and players, and then my screen goes black for a second. Is that the "flicker" issue you've been having? Because I think updating my drivers caused this. It wasn't happening before. Anyways, I don't know of a solution for this so Nexon really needs to get on this.. What's happening is it's saying my driver is crashing and then successfully recovering (If it didn't recover, I'd assume my screen would stay black) Closing maple fixes that issue of course..but it's still an issue while playing..

That's the same problem I've been having. When I train on my mage, the screen seems to go completely black and then it send me a notice saying that the display driver suddenly stopped responding and that it has recovered. None of this seemed to happen to me before the Dual Blades patch...The only thing that keeps the flicker from continuing on my screen is to switch from window to full mode. It seems to happen a lot to me when I'm at CWKPQ or ZAK maybe because there are so many graphics to consider in bossing. Other times when I'm on maple the flicker will just come on out of nowhere.. and yes NEXON really needs to fix this.

Well with me, I can be sitting still or training or doing whatever. The screen randomly freezes, and all the people and NPCs disappear and reappear quickly, like it's flickering. The whole time the screen is frozen so I can't do anything.

Gets kind of annoying having to do that every 3 minutes... :| It's a temporary solution I guess, but I want a permanent solution.

@Starfy It just has a pop-up when you try to do it and it closes MS. And btw, to the 'window mode' way, I can't even do that. I run Windows 7 64-bit Professional. When my memory usage starts peaking for MS (~400mb), if I alt tab to window mode, the window will disappear, and if I alt tab to full screen, it'll constantly minimize and maximize itself so I can't do anything until I force close Maple by alt tabbing back to window so the window is gone and then end process via task manager. I don't get any flickering problems though, though occasionally, my screen is all messed up, though idk how to explain it. And then I just have a random d/c problem . If i randomly d/c, chances are, as I try to go back in, login server disconnects me.

I have a 64-bit Windows 7 and it will ONLY flicker if I am using the GameLauncher. If it does flicker while you are using the game launcher, press Alt + Esc and it will minimize maple. Open it up and it is fixed.....for a short amount of time because the flicker likes to come back real fast. So I say use the website, Ive never gotten it on the website yet, and if it does happen try the minimize things?

its doesn't happen as often but it still does it once in a while its really annoying and some times my comp freezes :'(
