I want to adopt this girl in need of uplifting stories

Here she is about to down a mango smoothie! While volunteering in the Dominican Republic this summer, I met a little five-year old girl called Shishi (basil won't let me type out her name because it has a curse word). She was adorable and followed me around everywhere. I tried to take her to as many places as possible (I'll never forget when she went into the ocean with me for the first time, piggy-back style... >:D...), and tried to act as some sort of father figure since she was always alone around the village. After being with her for six weeks, it really sucked to say goodbye.. she wouldn't stop crying and refused to let me go. Bah. But on the plane ride home, I thought about possibly bringing her here to the States somehow. Even if only through a student visa.. Here's the problem: The Dominican Republic's government is despicable and refuses to give her a birth certificate/passport even though she was born in the DR since her parents are Haitian natives. I'm going to do a ton of research to see what I can do to help my baby girl, but right now I'm in need of some uplifting stories. So if you know someone who was rescued from a third-world country and given a new lease on life, be it child or adult, please let me know. It'll give me some hope. Thanks and I apologize if this was too much to read (I tried making it as short as possible). Oh and here's another picture I loved; captured before we got to make our silly faces~ This was the last time I hugged her; didn't tell her I was leaving until the very moment because I suck at goodbyes @_@

It's good to help out if you can help out. I mean I don't know you but if you're some 20 year old kid living in a tiny apartment, it may not be fit for a child.

I'm sorry but I don't have any uplifting stories to share but I just wanted to say what you're doing is awesome Acousmatic I don't know about you, but I'd ratherly live with a father in a tiny apartment than alone in a village in a developing country. :S

[/quote] That's another problem. I am just a 20 year old kid living in a college dorm. But since I don't have to pay for school, I'd be more than willing to work a job and put her through school while my parents take care of her (they okay'ed it because they're the best ). And I'm close to home so I could see her very often! Then when I'm older, she'd still be young enough for me to take care of. I know I'm being idealistic here, but I'm really going to try hard to help this girl. Even if the best I can do is sponsor her so she can go to school in the DR..
