Should I wear a speedo to my water polo tryout or those beach shorts?

Well everyone on my schools water polo team wears a speedo, so you should probably wear that. You would look weird showing up in like board shorts while everyone else is wearing speedos.

I didnt realize schools had water polo teams, for ones that do you probably have an excellent chance of making it in board shorts or a speedo. If you really dont know then just go naked then put on whatever most people have on.

Doing anything competitive with board shorts in the water is really annoying. You can feel it dragging you down a lot. Go for dem speedos.

I would suggest wearing a speedo, although if you are very reluctant to wear one, you could get some jammers instead. Normal swim trunks make you look like an amateur, so I'd advise against it.
