No more speculation/comparison discussions of post BB DPM!

Hey all. I've constantly seen these threads lately... attempted (and often inaccurate) tier lists of class-based DPM (Damage Per Minute) for after we recieve the Big Bang updates. Many of them are debated and shot down, many are poorly calculated and ignore tons of variables... ...but more importantly, people are setting up for something the Big Bang patch is trying to be designed to prevent - elitism. Take a look at how Maple is right now in GMS... more accurately, look at party formats for training or bossing. If you want to join a party, you better be useful. If you're not, you'll be made a fool out of, laughed at, insulted and outright shunned. Note the countless Pages, Bandits and Mages (I/L and F/P) thrown to the sidelines for Fighters/Spearmen, Assassins and Clerics when it comes to PQs or boss runs. Look at how many times a Marksmen will be replaced by a Bowmaster in a boss run. Look at the constant arguements between Corsairs and Night Lords as to which is "better" at bosses. And what about the idea of one character being more "worth it" than another to make... or discussions of new classes "replacing" old ones? Big Bang, for all intents and purposes, is trying to eliminae this by making everyone relatively equal in all aspects, both training and bossing in a party or alone. But look at what these post BB discussion threads are doing? By trying to compare and tier the classes again, we're throwing ourselves RIGHT back into the same, stupid issue. You know what the results of this are going to be if we keep this up - the classes on the bottom of the list will be shunned from parties for the "better" versions all over again... as if nothing happened (other than roster changes). It is, quite frankly, pathetic... ...and the blame falls on all of you who are trying to make these comparisons... trying to determine who's "better". The point is that not one class is or should be better. There is no point in competition in this matter... the game was designed for players to work together , not against each other! The point to all of these character adjustments in Big Bang is to remind us of this... but look how many of you simply ignore this in your useless struggle to be "better" than someone else? I believe that we don't need to know who's DPM is higher... who has the most use in a party... and most importantly, who's the bottom of the list. We should no longer attempt to work the math out, make the lists and parade them around for everyone to see and judge. I think this elitism has to stop... there is no need for undue arrogance based on class. We should accept balance and work together as we were intended... not make a new "popular clique" of classes and ignore the rest. I think that in this case especially, ignorance is bliss.

I do agree with you on your points, but such arguments will never end because the classes will never be equal, no matter how you see it, there's always going to be differences. It's up to the maplers to grow up and accept it from this point, but that'll never happen anytime soon.

All I wanna know is if it's true that I/L can properly boss. That way if it is, I can go to all those Mage haters and go "u mad?". Otherwise, I could care less about who's on top. I just like my Mage, and my future BM (Hurricane...I want it @_@) cause they're fun to play. The amazing thing, they're more fun than my DB, and I think he's boring.

[/quote] An all BISHOP run was 45 minutes, years ago. Take along some attacking mages and you've got yourself maybe a 20 minute run, nowadays. Which isn't that bad.
