Illiteracy. Hawt or Not?

Why is this generations youth so illiterate? Honestly, I cannot understand why someone would even like to be illiterate, or even type illiterately . Like when they type, or text , or so. The most common excuse I hear is that it's "faster". Which in fact it isn't. I can type, and text just as fast if not faster then someone who types illiterately. Then to talking illiterately. How can someone do that? I mean honestly. It makes you sound plain stupid. Discuss.

One thing I hate is when people type like: "h@y suP mA h0m1ez WuTz cR@Ck1nzz?". I do hate illiteracy. I don't mind internet slang and stuff like that, but at school if I see bad grammar..it pisses me off.

Usually it's cause they suck at typing or they think it makes them cool cause all the famous people do it.

[/quote] you can't call someone illiterate because they prefer to type using shortcuts. they'd have to be doing a lot worse to be (fairly) deemed illiterate. people who make a big deal over this kind of thing are just as bad as the people they're complaining about, if not worse. sure, it can be pretty annoying but there's very little you can do about it, and huffing like this just makes you look like an ass.

Typing or writting "Ur" is faster than writing "Your, You're" I personally prefer using the latter, but I don't really care if others prefer efficiency. Unless, ofcourse, if you can't understand them. "hy wtr u dng?"

[/quote] Typing shortcuts =/= spelling nearly every word wrong.

I actually take longer to type with the shortcuts and stuff. I don't mind most of them but some are just really stupid like the ones that are the same amount of letters. I know some people who use "mi" for the words me or my and "bii" for bye. It really bugs me.

I also hate it when people put letters where they don't belong, or spell words wrong on purpose to try and seem cute :l That probably pisses me off more than almost anything.
