I've tried out a Level 30 Dual Blade, and know the Aran gameplay already, but I need help choosing. What I have discovered - 1. Dual Blade is very good at doing one monster at a time with Fatal Blow. 2. Dual Blades are proficient at mobbing with Slash storm. (But this is weird, because Fatal Blow is already level 20, whereas Slash Storm is only Level 1...So, if anyone with a more experienced dual-blade talk about this) 3. Dual Blades require skill boooks. - NX Skill Books Aran- 1. Arans are very very good at mobbing. 2. Arans can't boss! [Corrected] 3. Arans can't go one monster at a time? I want something proficient at both. There are no Aran Zakum Solo's on YouTube, (neither is there dual blade - because that's a new character..) But, if someone could correct me on my ?'s, then I could decide. Also, please say which is better in a reply - I can't make a poll.
demariae : 1. Aran's require no nx for skillbooks (previously said but point still stands and it's less stressful for people) 2. Aran's can boss very well and even post revamp will be able to boss very well. 3. HP may be lower than normal warriors but has a decent reach with all skills allowing you not to have to hug monsters or bosses when attacking. 4. it's difficult to reach aran's full potential unless completely funded (arcglaive/purple surfboard for speed) 1. Dual bladers have decent damage from 30 on. 2. HP is NOT THAT LOW (at lvl 91 my DB has 4k HP with equips and 3.1k base) 3. currently bandwagoned causing it to be more expensive to fund at the time. 4. Can boss well but not the most efficient until 120+ both have their goods and bads. my aran is 144 and my DB is 91, i enjoy both and are using both as my main's
This post assured my Aran. To those of you who enjoy Dual Blades - sorry. There are different classes because people enjoy different things. CowSockie - Very helpful post too ^^
Andheri : Dual Blades have NX SKILL BOOKS and they also drop from monsters. And, don't 'Slinger's have the best DPM? Also, DPM doesn't matter as long as it's not as low as cleric.
You may not know this, but the skills DO drop from monsters as well. Ive seen it with my own eyes~ I fixed it for you btw. ;D
Im not all that sure about BB because i really havent looked into it- i really dont care about it either :S, but as for the skillbooks, its just like other mastery books- they don't look like the NX ones- just normal yellow books.
TigersWords : No, it's not the total HP of all the arms+body has around 432,600,000 HP, that means he has to do 72,100,00 damage every minute
arans atk like 3-4 arms at once, and if delaran can beat a papulatus in 1:02 secs im pretty sure i can solo a zakum

DBs are overpowered like hell, but 1st and 2nd job they're going to get destroyed if u get to third job before bb, you'll be fine arans ftw

the main worry for the bigbang and aran's is that our critical rate goes down. in actuality our critical rate stays about the same. maybe slightly less. but whilst our critical rate is slightly less our main attacking skills from 3rd job (full swing) and 4th job (overswing) get a decent damage increase. and some people QQ over the decreased finishers, well that only affects combo smash spammers in CPQ mostly. in 3rd job once you've got a decent lvl combo crit you barely use finishers anymore. so in the end the balance patch does what it should do. balance us.

Uh... Level 20 Slash Storm isn't good at mobbing at all, let alone level 1. It's useless except for mobility and invincibility. XD Also, Arans CAN go one monster at a time. At the moment, they have 2nd highest dpm with all buffs, second, of course, to Corsair. And I saw a video of an aran in kMS BEFORE % equips were out soloing Zakum 3rd body, and he was literally taking large chunks out of its HP. Sadly, he died right before he managed to kill it. Arans and DBs are easily the best mobbers in the game (although DBs aren't that great until 3rd job). Arans can take down the most monsters at one time, but DBs are very mobile and their main attacks can Rush, so that means that they will fly around the map, pushing monsters in front of them, so that they almost never have less than the very maximum amount of mobs possible for DBs (cant remember if it was 6 or 8 XD). They are WAY more mobile than Arans. Take your pick now. =D
Correction: It's not that our critical RATE goes down, it's the fact that the crit system becomes additive instead of multipliers. So the critical damage because significantly nerfed. With that said, I'm still going to continue my aran, and postBB I believe we will be the best mobbers in the game. OT: Dual Blades are more party friendly because thorns is godly for any class without natural crit. However, Arans are the fastest lvl'ers (with the exception of bishops and AMs). Last time I checked, not all DB skillbooks are monster droppable, and it takes ~30k nx to acquire all the needed skills. 30 bucks isn't that much, but I'd rather pay nothing for a "free" online game.
ah i never knew that about the new crit system. thank you for that correction. I agree completely with what you are saying. DB's are in fact a wonderful party class and the money needed for their nx is not much, however regardless of whether skillbooks drop from monsters or not some people need to realize that not everybody wants to deal with having to get a skillbook in second-third job for skills. Off topic: the crit system is additive, i read it once before but never fully understood it. so does that mean that the damage % given by say thorns and SE now simply goes on top of the skill % damage am i correct? such as 40% bonus crit + 250% damage skill = 290% damage for skill?
I'm not completely sure about the additive system either, but people are telling me that the crits that used to total about 300% dmg after BB would become somewhere like 140-170% of regular damage, so the crit nerf will be very noticable. To compensate, they raised the base damages on OS and FB, but the overall DPM still experiences a slight nerf, which wouldn't be a big deal but almost every other class is getting buffed.

personally i think dbs are better because my little brother has an aran and im not that impressed compared to my db, and triple stab is better than slash storm for mobbing, but fatal blow is only for lone monsters, hope i helped! =3
