Charity, when do you draw the line?

Personally, I don't train people except for a few times when I've felt whimsical, I managed to lvl without help, I think they can manage to do as well. I don't give mesos to those who wander around begging, I've earned my mesos the hard way and I think they can, and should, do the same. And I don't party with people that just randomly invite me to parties. I don't know if I'm just old fashioned in that aspect, but I think they should at least have the coutesy to ask if you'd like to join them before badgering you with an invite, or even worse, invites. I have, and likely will continue if I can, give away as many high lvl rare(r) items I find as possible. A few rare times I have sold them to stores, and even rarer times, to people, but on the whole, I just prefer to give them away since someone else will need them far more than I ever will. Anyway, I was just wondering where everyone else drew the line when it came to charity, I'm not entirely sure if this discussion has already been done, but as I haven't seen anything resembling this in my short foray into the forum so far, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post it and see what people's answers are.

To Dirgible: Hahahaha very nice, you are quite giving, or at least it seems that way to me. And I would add, if I didn't believe in working on my own for my own items, I'd probably ask for you help trying to find some decent stars since the prices for them are just plain outrageous. -_-;; I have a feeling I'll be using subis for a long long time, but I suppose that's okay since it just means it'll take a little longer to kill things and I've got time to do so.

Ell Oh Ell to xiaomage2 it appears that he is having some occular or comprehension trouble... to answer that question 100 % NOT I dont hand out to those that ask unless the circumstances are that 1) You dont beg me 2) you dont cry or whine 3) Im in a charitable mood and 4) you dont annoy me otherwise you may stand a good chance...I like to give randomly as it comes as a surprise to the people that recieve...I hope you all out there train hard like I do and work for what you get, as it will be more rewarding when you earn your status as opposed to leeching from others.. keep it real Pay it forward

sometimes I'll help with quest items, or give away spare pots I dont need, I dislike people who randomly beg/demand things from me for some reason some people equate cash shop items to have lots of meso :/

Hahahah I like to be pretty random when I give away stuff, though I do try to give stuff to my friends first if they're on and will need it. Quite a few of my friends have suggested that if I come accross anything, it would be better to give it to a friend than to a random stranger. Which actually I'm not too sure about, since a random act of charity, kindness, whatever, should spread more when you give to a random stranger than if you were to give to a friend. Though then again, knowing human nature, it's not quite as likely as I could hope.

To Vulpes: I hate those quests for the most part, only a few out of all of them seem to be worth doing other than to relieve the boredom . . . and even then I don't know about that since some of the quests are very very tedious and frustrating.

When I started the game I had help from my best friend and a few other people biased in my favor, so I never had to ask for anything. It didn't get hard until lvls 30-35, and now that I'm on a new character I've been randomly and very generously helped by dirigible and friends. So I honestly feel obliged to try to help someone out occasionally- karma and all. I'll help someone who says please, even if they can't spell it. It's people who DEMAND help that get nothing from me. Let them try getting help IRL that way. They don't call 'please' the magic word for nothing, at least amongst people who were raised with manners.

I saw a lvl 17 warrior the other day trying to do the Halloween quest, he had level 10 armor on, with the level 15 sword and level 15 shield. He said I looked cool, and famed me. So just for being polite, I gave him the 40 candies I had on me, plus I told him I'd help him finish the quest. He was very grateful and courteous, and that reminded me why I liked helping beginners in the first place. He was actually very new to the game, so I gave him some advice on how to build his character, and where to look if he needed to follow a guide. I also gave him mesos to help him buy better armor and the like. And all this was pretty much because he never really asked for it, he was just being nice. So just being kind to another will go a lot farther than just paying/begging/etc. And another thing, "please" is the magic word, but sometimes people overuse it just a tad. When people ask for something, and think that if they put "plz plz plz plz plz" there that it will somehow convince me to give it to them.

A lot of people forget there is a simple common factor in life....and that my friends is L O G I C can you say "LOGIC" ? i Knew you could. common curtesties are oft forgotten in everyday life, such as when people do you a favor you say "thank you" or "much appreciated" or somthing in that regard. When people just start acting like bums on the street, you tend to want to ignore them like bums on the street (unfortunately there are too many bums to help) But like in real life ... in the game MOST people id like to believe work for what they have and in turn dont just want to give thier hard earned budget to some begging n00b that cant even communicate what they need properly. ie.. Plz plz give me ie.. I need give give f4 ie.. Im noob give meso f4 I hate things like that and make me want to give them a lecture on what it is to actually earn something anyway...its time to eat now so i must stop this ranting... Like always Pay it forwards

Sometimes, I'll wander into Henesys Hunting Ground I and be totally random. I'll hang on ropes and drop money. I'll hop around the platforms and drop random items (mostly monster drops that some quest or another needs). Sometimes I'll accept random party invites and fight things for awhile to give the other member(s) some exp., even if it's not much, considering I'm mid-30s compared to their low levels. Sometimes, I'll hit up a random low-level person with a trade and give them money/stuff. Especially the magelings, since I tend to get drops for them (and I tend to be mage-inclined when I'm playing as a mage). As a rule, I won't give anything to anyone who asks unless they can type in proper English. It's not that I mind n00bish, l33t, and what have you. I just favor those who don't drop their language skills just because virtually everyone else on teh Intarwebz does it, too. I hate, though, when you're doing something like this and the receiver is ungrateful. It happened once. I forgot what I gave, and all the other guy said was "That's it?" D: D: D: D: Well, fortunately, that was my sole experience with that type of person.

Hahahah the whole politeness thing reminded me of someone who got all upset because I happened to hit and because I was lucky, or unlucky, killed the monster they were attacking. I apologized for being so rude as to hit their monster, especially since it's so very hard at times to tell whose monster it is when there's long range and short range people around. I doubt they really cared, but I did get some laughs out of it since the usual stuff I see is, "I no kser! U kser!" or something equally sad and depressing along those lines. Another favorite was someone calling me a loser for killing an octopus. I'm still not entirely sure how my killing that octopus equated to losing, but obviously they felt it worth calling attention to. Hahahah as for my favorite ungrateful person, there was this one that I gave something to, and it was a decent piece of equipment, they just took it and left. I don't suppose I really expected thanks, but I was at least hoping they'd have said something rather than just grabbing and running. Hmmm, also, here's a question for you all, would you give away a panlid if you had one or a spare one? I ask this mainly because it's the most commonly desired rare item in the game, or at least that's what I believe from what I've seen.
