Why cant i do a pull up?

im 13 and i can do around 15 pushups but i cant do one pull-up without a little jumping start, my friends that can barely do 5 pushups cna do more pull ups then me. why is that? is it possible im using the wrong muscle pulling myself up?

i started a few weeks ago i cudnt do ne last year lol cuz i never tried and i just hit puberty so i cud prolly do more than 40 push ups by 15...

I can do 42 push-ups but i can only do about 6 pull ups. im 13 too

im not saying thats alot im saying people who cud do less pushups then me can do more pullups... and i meant i hit my growthspurt

lol @ everyone who's 15 and posting that they can do like 15pull ups and 40 push-ups. Its not bragging if its that low, you 15 year old's. Im 15 aswell and I could easily beat you all out.

some people think they can do pull ups but.. there really using the force from there legs to pull them up so yeah pulls are different from push ups any ways

Do it slowly. above Push-ups can vary a lot... Whether you do them right to the floor, or just to 90 degrees or even less. Some people cheat a LOT on their push-ups. I just started a few weeks ago working out a bit, and I can only pull off about 10 push-ups before my form starts to suck, so then I just move on to crunches.
