| http://www.physorg.com/news199591806.html Accounts for the ongoing expansion of the universe without dark energy. Also, it's a steady state model (no beginning and no end). I wish I could find a better article, but trust me, this one isn't as bad as the one I was reading a few days ago >_< |

| Aw crap, I don't even understand the Big Bang theory fully to begin with, now I gotta learn some other goddamn model? Science sucks. |

| I dont believe this to be the truth. Big bang sounds much more likely to me. |

| That's pretty cool, seems like it could potentially solve a lot of the problems associated with the Big Bang theory. Seems really confusing though. |

| There is no truth. To find society's coveted truth, you'd have to travel back to the past. Then again, empirical data can be misleading. Time would not exist without humans to invent it. It's all theory. The Big Bang, everything. Nihil verum nisil mors . |
Can't fault a person for accepting the best idea drawn from the evidence available at the time, now can we? Anyways, this is one of several ideas about the universe (you may be familiar with chaotic inflation theory, I think it was discussed on an episode of The Universe) that may or may not be credible as we gain more knowledge about the universe. Also, this model would lend considerably less credibility to any miraculous creation myth since it's a steady state model (not that it had much to begin with). |

| Interesting idea, but it is very unreliable. For one, though he mentions expansion, he doesn't take into account that expansion requires time (as does all actions) and yet tries to present it as something that changes into time, an odd idea to be sure. And it seems like a bit of math is going to be needed to prove his hypothesis as well. |

|
Amarlista : So how would you go about MacGuyvering some time?
What do you mean? >_> Time is a human invention, though. It's made to keep track of how much...for lack of a better term...time has passed. I mean, if people didn't exist, neither would history, or time for that matter, because no other identified thing that lives on Earth would need it. Basically, it was invented by the ancient Babylonians with the sundial to keep track of how much...time...had passed, so they could base what they're doing on when. They used a base-12 number system since it was easier to make accurate marks on a circle by means of such a system, hence the 12 hours with 60 minutes in each hour thing that the clock uses. Society likes orderly things; time was invented to coordinate activities (like in Basil, you never know when someone's likely to be on without them listing their playing time). I'm not too keen on the specifics, but it's definitely somewhere in one of Einstein's space-time explanation thingies. Then again, Einstein appears to be incorrect on several things, like quantum physics and antimatter, so... At Dragonmatt5: "He tested one of the models against current cosmological observations of Type Ia supernovae that have revealed that the universe appears to be expanding at an accelerating rate." So he tested his model against other models, but the results of the test, the values he used for computation, the significance, hypotheses, nothing was stated. I'm pretty sure it did acheive some significance at the very least; the website doesn't seem to be THAT far-out. |

That's like saying length is a human invention because if humans didn't exist, neither would rulers. |

| What I don't understand is how it could be eternal but still be expanding; wouldn't it have had to have a big-bang style starting point? Perhaps I skipped something in the article though. Edit: nevermind |
