Merchanting that worked in real life!

| No really, I'm a jerk when it comes to merchanting. I go on a mule account and merchant there in order to avoid the DC hacking tidbit that people like using on merchants. That way, if someone DC hacks me, I can just go on my main and not care. But either way, I'm one of those jerks who keeps saying an absurd half-off price for an expensive item while slowly bargaining with you to eventually meet a price that is incredibly good for me, bad for you. I then sell it for a price that is good for me via mushie shop, and bam. Profit. Lots of it too. Doesn't take too long either. Anyways, to get to the point, today, I am in Beijing, China. I just came from Korea 4 days ago, where I've been for 26 days. Already spent over $5000 on clothing or electronics (Pretty rich family, and all my clothes are from asian countries anyways, since clothes in america just consist of a t-shirt and jean short-shorts). Here's the story. Today, I went to a very famous department store, famous for legally selling clothing that were deemed excess by company shipping standards. The manufacturers themselves did not make these clothings, so they are deemed fake, but the materials are real (like those stretchy materials they use for Underarmour shirts, they also use in these clothes. Believe me, with a simple touch/feel you can tell that the materials are real, and I'm quite the expert ^^). Also government approved, and even former president bush shopped here. [Btw, please don't bring up any politically related comments or i-hate-bush comments]. This department store is quite famous for scams as well. Many foreigners come here (I saw like... 60% non-chinese people here) to shop because of the cheap price. They are warned beforehand it's fake, of course. The sellers enjoy putting large prices--not absurd--but large prices on the fake-but-real-material clothing. Here's the point Today, I spent a total of $200, or approximately 1300 RMB. I bought: 4 name-brand T-shirts, a large suitcase (suitcases are real), 3 clothing-styled jackets (the ones you wear casually), two winter jackets, 1 Armani jacket, 1 Louis Vuitton bag, 1 Rolex watch, 2 real-pearl necklaces, and 2 collar t-shirts. Now, the prices of these clothings are actually average. While fake, professionals did give an average pricing on them. And yes, it is illegal to resell for real-brand price. The Armani jacket costs $1,700 real; $250 fake. The T-shirts in total costs approximately $15 each. The suitcase costs $100. The jackets costs a total of $100, the winter jackets costs $20 each. The bag costs $120, the watch costs $80, the pearl necklaces costs $200 each, and the collar t-shirts cost a total of $40. These pricings are based on material+labor. That means, my total spendings were a LOT less than the prices of the materials and the labor taken to make these clothings and accessories. How did I do it? This store is very price-flexible. You can bargain for a price. I went maple merchant on their asses. They said 1350 RMB fo |

|
AznKirby : You mean haggling?
I think so. Merchanting (a game term I believe) would be reselling the things she got for a higher price. Bargaining would be a better term. Anyways, bargaining is good, but I don't really merchant in maple. Money isn't really a necessity in that game for me. I did haggle when I was in China, but I didn't get my prices to that low, TS. Kudos to you. :P @BELOW. WELL IT DOES TO ME SO :U (Imagines someone irl going, "Let's go merchant guys!") hehe I kid. :p |

|
chunkyivionkey : I wouldn't buy fake clothes.
I don't see why not =x I'm a fashion person and it's the material and brand that's important; no one's gonna go up to you with the same shirt and compare the two with a magnifying glass. Since it isn't fake material, trying to identify the fake material won't work either. I can say it's real, and only something out-of-the-ordinary would prove me wrong 8D Fake material however I refuse to buy >:| 2above same difference >:o not important what I call it :x |

| No **** merchanting works in real life. What on earth do you think businesses do? Do you really think car dealerships buy their cars for the same price they sell? The same goes with any business out there. I don't see the point in this thread. Should go in the storytelling section because I don't think much people are really going to care that you got some stuff cheaper than the store price. It isn't hard to do that in alot of stores. |
