Our Health Care isn't exactly "free" We pay 13% tax of the money we make, and that goes towards schools, police, fire department, medical, etc. This tax comes out of our paychecks, and then when we go purchase something, we pay for the tax as well. For some scenarios, some may consider it "free". Such as, if we need to go into an operation which may cost $100k, it doesn't matter for us since we don't need to pay it upfront. I wouldn't consider this "free", but "already paid for" In conclusion, the Health Care can be free or not by the way you look at it. PS. I'm Canadian Discuss/share/opinion

It is pretty obvious, if the government pays for the health care where do they get it from? Taxes.

Well, the health system was designed to give medicare to those who couldn't afford it. Taxes are based on salary, but an operation would have a single fee. If you take a man who earns $30 000 a year, to a man who earns $115 000, they both have health care, but if they were faced with a need for surgery, the first man would have a harder time paying for it. Those with more money can have access to private health care which gives them faster and more efficient methods of getting aid. Those who don't still have access to the things that can keep them healthy.

In The Netherlands we pay 27~53% (depending on how much money you make) tax over the money we make. It's ridiculous. ):
