Hi everyone, I'm a first time poster, long time lurker, hopefully you all can help me out, and I hope I'm not repeating anything, I searched the forum, but couldn't find anything specific to what I really wanted to know. I saw a few people asking what they should play, but I don't really want anyone to just tell me a class without knowing what each class is good for. I've played an Evan, my brother ruined it when i let him play it for a little, and I didn't feel like starting one over again, but I like the mage playing style, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy a regular mage. I'm really just wondering what the best features about each one are , and what the worst features about each one are. I'm not really interested in which one levels the fastest, I like to play at my own pace regardless, I'm not sure if I have a lot of funding or not, I have about 60 mil, so if you could take that into account as well, that would be great.

Cleric is great for cheapness, but it's uberly boring. Fire is great for leveling really fast, but it's a pot burn. Ice is more versatile

Clerics--Boring, but could when it comes to mesos. F/P--Godly levelers up to 120. 120+ the same as other classes. If you can get an eweapon, you'll out damage a Bishop. I/L--Versatile, flashy skills, decent levelers, great range, freezing helps A LOOOOT with pot costs (personally clerics heal doesn't save nearly as many pots as freezing monsters). If you can get an eweapon, you'll out damage a Bishop.

Thanks guys, @Sunstar are you saying that if i don't get an eweapon i won't be able to out damage a bishop? or that it will just be a much larger difference between a bishop and the other classes?

ahh, I gotcha so what level would i have to start looking into an ele wand? should i wait until like 4th job? or would it be smart to get one of the lower level ones earlier? do they make a difference at lower levels?

Cleric: No need to use HP Pots when training at MP3. Low damage per minute 1v1. Middle damage 1vmob (2nd job). I/L: Freezes, mobs. Middle damage per minute 1v1. High damage per minute 1vmob (2nd job). F/P: Godly leveling to 120. High damage per minute 1v1. Low damage per minute 1vmob (2nd job).

By definition mobbing is being able to inflict damage on more than one monster at a time, and by best you mean which class outputs the most damage. In second job f/p have fire arrow which now hits 3 monsters for consistently high damage. It also gets poison brace which inflicts high DoT. Don't believe me? Go to TJs and look for an f/p mage soloing. Godly exp...

At above...F/P mages have high damage per min 1vmob...FA hits 3 monsters now and 120 Basic Attack . On topic, I leveled all three mages to 50, and enjoyed I/L the most but it got boring because of MP3 only :/. F/p mages were also really fun, and is currently the class i'm playing..on a break cuz of this autoban thing. I suggest watching videos, good luck :D

Thanks everyone, I think I have it narrowed down to I/L and F/P, I'm thinking this because I like both lightning and ice for the I/L mages, and I like fire a lot for F/P I sort of like seeing the big numbers when it comes to damage, at least decent numbers, and I don't think I would be satisfied with the damage of Clerics I'm just concerned I won't like the poison part of F/P, can I get away with just using fire?

Personally, I have plenty of fun with my i/l. Whenever I try a new class I miss my i/l and delete my new character. Also, you don't HAVE to kill yourself grinding at mp3. I never trained at mp3, I just trained at monsters that I found fun with my fighting style. I'm no boring stand-and-snipe kind of guy. I love gathering monsters with lightning and bringing them over to a corner and BOOM! They're dead. f/p sounds fun too now that fire can mob, but I'm not going to quit my i/l for it. I like freezing as well.

I found my whole bishop journey really boring, so I would go for the i/l and/or f/p.

Bishop- Generally dull looking skills compared to I/L and F/P. Their also teh weakest, DPM wise out of the 3 mage classes, altho their essential 2 a good bossing party or regular training party and r EXTREMELY cheap compared to I/L and F/P(pot usage, wise) F/P ArchMage- A wide assortment of flashy skills. Strongest ,DPM wise compared to I/L/Bishop due to they having a skill called Paralyze which has a higher base dmg than a I/L's Chain Lightining and Bishop's Angel Ray, although its the biggest put burner of them alll due 2 no freeze by meteo or healing abilities. They are also, with no doubt, the fastest lvling class throught the entire game from 30-120, and 2nd 2 Bishops at 121+ I/L ArchMage- Also has a wide assortment of flashy skills. Pretty much in between compared 2 F/P and Bishop, DPM wise. They r also in between Bishop's and F/P's when it comes to pot consumption, Although its still a major pot burner. The're also teh 2nd fastest lvling class througth this game along with F/P's.
