Pre-Algebra challange problem

So i have a Pre-Algebra challenge problem from my math tutor. and i cant figure it out Replace each variable in the expression a/b+x/d+e/f. with one of the numbers 4,5,6,7,8and 9 so that he expression has the greatst possible value. give the value.

haha phillippe, sorry. when you begin to take higher math classes, i.e diff eq. you begin to doubt such things. I mean, if it is as you say it is, and the kid knows what order of ops is he should be able to solve this problem by himself. obviously you want to maximize the sum in your case, so the method for finding the answer is what mrsaigon said. however, if he did forget parentheses then he's screwed.

I don't think the TS asked when you took algebra at he just asked for the answer to the problem ~_~ It's like what the other posters said 9/4 + 8/5 + 7/6 just divide with largest to smallest and work up.

I was in a special gifted class where I accelerated through math. Now I'm going into 9th grade and I'm currently finishing Grade 12 Calculus & Vectors. MATH IS EASY

Getting your math problems solved is not the actual solution. Being a teacher and a mother, I would suggest you to learn the subject properly and do your homework by your own. You can ask your parents or teachers for help. Otherwise take help of a good tutoring site like tutorteddy.
