This thread is over. Many of you critisize my views on suffering, write demeaning and hateful comments, or are just plain rude. Yeah, I dislike anything having to suffer. Get over it. If that makes me a wuss, whatever. I'd rather be caring rather than being a jackass. Thanks to those who understood what I meant in the thread!

It's the fact that she's ending their lives slowly and being cruel for no reason. If she's going to kill them, she should at least crush them quickly. [/quote] Why would an old woman go out of her way to crush each and every little snail seperately when she can kill more without barely any effort. The snails are screwing up her garden so she has to get rid of them.

I think smaller organisms have less pain sensors than us..if they even have any. I know it seems really harsh when you think about it, because imagining acid on our skin is painful indeed. I wouldn't worry too much about it though..even if the snails seem to writhe in agony, it's mostly out of defensive reflex than pain.

I don't think snails or most other invertebrates can feel pain the same way humans do. If they feel pain at all.
