| I've been playing this game for a long time now, but I've never played a mage (besides getting an Evan to 30 when it came out). Now, something I was wondering is why scroll anything for Luk for a Lukless mage? I understand that the Luk equips are nice and all, but if 1 Int = 1 m.atk, then why add anything but Int? I've seen quite a few threads on here where people will ask about Luk equips. I just don't see the point. Any comments? My point: Wisdom staff = 80 m.atk. Ele Staff = 178 m.atk Req 165 Luk. If, 161 = 161 m.atk, then what's the draw? Or do I have the dmg formula mixed up? Please civil comments only. |

 | Exactly why LUKless mages exist. However you can use equips for the LUK requirement. (e.g. Zakum Helmet gives +15 to all stats, if you are LUKless then the LUK boost is wasted. If you are Low-LUK then you use both LUK and INT from the same equip; and many more instances where LUK can serve to be better) Low-LUKs such as myself use equips to satisfy weapon needs; I chose a Reverse because it levels up and I'm a Bishop, as my endgame weapon. But yes, without equips, LUKless is probably the best, until the Big Bang patch where you *may* need LUK to hit monsters. Unfunded people should head toward LUKless for best damage, as well as low levels, for now. |

| Well, I have a decent amount of money (read 200m :P) not amazingly funded, but still some. I just don't see the point in adding any Luk, even in that case. I mean, even if a Targas(int) gives somewhere around 22 luk, That's only enough to equip low level stuff. Without a further investment in Luk (meaning taking away further from your damage) you can't equip things like the Timeless weps. What about a higher m.atk on the weapon is better than just a higher base luk? Again, maybe I'm just missing something. ^^;; |

Untill then a 80 magic attack wisdom staff will out preform a ele staff (assuming you're using a neutral spell) |

| Once the Big Bang revamp arrives, Mage's damage formula is going to change drastically. 1 int will no longer be equal to 1 M.Atk. M.Atk will be weighted just like W.Atk so a lot of players are going to want to add Luk just to that they can equip items with the highest possible M.Atk. For example, the level 163 Ele Staves. Though personally, I would never stroll for luk. It's a waste imo. @ above: How would a wisdom staff out perform an ele staff? Ele staves have more m.atk. |

| Low-luk is the best in the long run. However, if you don't want to waste too much money for damage, luk-less is the best damage for the least money. You just have to spend money to buy the maple staff/wand at lvl 35, 43, 64. |

| @ dinosaaur Lukless with Wis staff = (80 base m.atk + the extra 161 Int = 241) Lukked with Ele Staff = (178 base m.atk, with Req 165 Luk = 178) 241>178 I saw the new formula for m. damage: .88*[(Int*4+Luk)*(m.atk/100)] So running those two weapons in the new kmst formula it would be: .88*[(165*4+4)*(80/100)] for Lukless, and .88*[(4*4+165)*(178/100), so thats Lukless=468 and Lukked=284. :/ I don't get why this formula will change anything. (Notes: Base Int is 4 for ease of calculation, extra 161 points on lukless side come from saved points on a maple wand.) |

| Luk equips are generally much cheaper than those scrolled for int, and can help you have the required luk to equip some makered gear. |

| you you have to add some int to your calculations the magic atack multipliers is worthles with small numbers do the math with luckles having 999 int vs low luck having 900 the difrance is drastic 2816 vs 5475 luckles need a wepon that actuly gives a bonus multiplier 80 magic atck /100 actuly reduces their total dmg with the new formula u need 100+ magic atack to have half of a low luck/ reg lucks atack. 60 luck from equips isent hard so i said luckles/low luck have 160 so they can use the elly staff. |

| Well, I did a little math and this is what I got. Assumptions/Truths: *Starting Stats 13/4/4/4 *Staffs only *New Formula *Optimal equipment for their level (i.e. Bain Staff, Laevateinn, Mushroom Staff, Reverse, etc) *+65 items for Luk/Int for Lukked/Lukless respectively. *Starting Lvl 67, ending level 185 (67 is when +65 Luk is beneficial, 185 is 1 level before lukless would cap Int) From level 67-79, Lukless wins on dmg. From level 80-104, Lukked wins on dmg. From level 105-162, Lukless wins on dmg From level 163-185, Lukked wins on dmg. Sample Stats: Level 185: Lukless - Int: 998, Luk: 4, m.atk: 1.2, Dmg: 4220 | Lukked - Int: 837, Luk: 165, m.atk: 1.78, Dmg: 5503 Level 162: Lukless - Int: 883, Luk: 4, m.atk: 1.2, Dmg: 3734 | Lukked - Int: 723, Luk: 164, m.atk: 1.35, Dmg: 3631 (I can post more if you like) Beyond that, both build will most likely become Lukked due to Int Cap. In my opinion, up until you become able to use the elemental staff, there is no reason to be a Lukked mage of any kind. The equipment may look nice, but for raw damage, there is no doubt in my mind that Lukless is more powerful. |

Earring and Shield, are cheaper for LUK than for INT. This gave me enough LUK to wield the Timeless. However I am a bishop so I have no need for Elemental Staves ^^ |

| DragonzSage I didn't take into account base Int for either equation. The only thing I did was use base 4 (which is minimum) for all stats, then I added the 161 points (96 levels + 65 equip bonus) to Int on the Lukless side, due to the fact that the Lukked mage needs 165 (4 base + 65 equip bonus + 96 levels) in order to wield the weapon. I realize now that that particular equation is flawed, and that the Ele staff is the thing to strive for because of the exponential damage increase of w.atk compared to Int, but up to that point the Lukless mage always wins out. I've got the Excel spreadsheet to back it up. But y'know, it's also true that if they ever release a lvl 163 or lower maple wep with 154 m.atk or better, then even the ele staffs are no match for lukless :D |
