Big deal with Anime?

I've never quite understood the appeal of anime, (e.g. Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.) and I'd like to know why it's so popular with people on basil (I'm stereotyping, so sorry, it's just the easiest way to say it). Is there a difference between anime and regular cartoons? I just don't see why it's so widely popular on the internet in general.

Cartoons don't have a plot. Most of anime shows do.

Anime has better animation than most cartoons. Cartoons mak you laugh but, animes trigger other emotions (anger, sadness, laughter (also), despair, insanity (lol soul eater) , excitement.)

Thats why i prefer reading manga>watching anime, if you've never tried reading manga then try this one: Liar Game, it has quite the plot, and its read so u may not get as bored as fast.

dont think of anime as cartoons with a plot think of anime as normal shows with different artwork

While yugioh is just about getting a card to destroy the world for no reason and getting revenge on a phraroh who didn't even do anything wrong. Ok I guess yugioh has plot also but, naruto is more than childrens card games.

Pokemon now a days is a cartoon boring and pointless with horrible voice acting. But before it was an awesome Anime that had this great fantasy world with amazing creatures and this one boys dream to be the very best that no one ever was!
