First of all I want to establish that this thread is not a "what is the best class" thread. Well, techincally I guess it is but I'm trying to focus on survivability, and not the usual "what's the best DPM" threads, so mods hopefully you will not lock this one. Now onto the point. I've been looking at the changes in the Big Bang and concluded that the two melee classes with highest survivability are shadowers and paladins. Now assuming that the people controlling it have the same level of character control, here are the pros and cons of each class survivability wise. Shadower: Pros - High avoid - Mesos guard - Smokescreen - Invincibility frames - 35% godmode - Chakra? Cons - Low base HP - Mesos guard can be dispelled Paladin: Pros - High base HP (even more with new HP increase skill) - 30% Godmode (1h) - Reduce damage by 30% with threaten - Power Guard - Restoration (heals 80% of hp, with cooldown) - Achilles - Bossing armour (more godmode!) Cons: - Low avoid So what are your opinions on which of the two classes is better at surviving? ( This is at bosses btw, which is why I didn't include things like ACB's stun)

lolidan? A shadower tanking would be suicide even with their High avoid, and defense skill (Not chakra). Edit: Besides the point; lolidans are built around being defensive, so they would fit "Tanking". Shadowers are built too just avoid, so it's literally relying on luck.

Dual bladers, They got a 4th job skill that the mirror image takes damage, so its like 100% godmode.

The shadower is changed again, its 40% shadow shifter now. I'd say Paladin would be better in reducing(thus tanking) damage, looking at the threaten+archillis+PG combination. Shad would be better in avoiding the damage BUT if we do get hit we might not survive it due to only having MG to half it. LOL @ ABOVE! DB do NOT have 100% godmode XD they get a puppet and some invince frames but thats it.

You forgot to mention that Paladin's don't get KBed once they have Power Stance.

Trying to be unbiased(i dont even play my paladin), im gonna vote paladin. why? because shadowers have much lower HP, and paladin has a higher success rate for godmode and hella more defense. A shadower is going to take a hit a paladin would take, but much harder and with less hp. god mode has nothing to do with it really, but more so defense and HP. Paladin is all about defense. Lemme put it this way. Shadower cant take a BF hit til what? level 160? paladin can take a BF hit much much sooner.
I kinda agree with this guy but i do want you to explain how they have higher godmode chance, cause Shadow shifter is back to 40% again while the shield block is still 30%. And id like to know the difrence between Bossing armor and smokescreen.

Shadowers do not have enough Hp to tank as well as paladins. With bossing armour only, we take on average 40% of hits. Add guardian into that and we take 28% of physical hits. Thats 1 in 3 which we will avoid. Add achilles which reduces touch damage by 15% and we take 23% of physical damage. Plus, we have threaten which acts the equivalent of HB, and PG which halves damage from monsters and takes 30% off (IIRC) boss damage. Ptewy. More accurate will probably be taking damage reduction skills into account first. 1. Firstly threaten reduces the damage we take to 60% 2. Achilles reduces that by 15% to 51% 3. Power guard halves that to 25% [on monsters] Now we take guardian into account first since bossing armour requires a physical hit first. 4. Guardian aborbs 30% of hits reduce damage to 17.5% 5. Of the 70% of hits guardian misses [17.5%] we get 40% of this damage only due to bossing armour - reduces to 7% So, if this is accurate, we take 7% of physical damage.

Bossing armour at max level... this is sorta hard to explain. At max level it has 20% chance (activated when you are damaged), to "guard" against the next 5 attacks for 60 secs. There is a cooldown of 30 seconds, so if you guard 5 times before the 30 secs is up you have to wait before it activates again.
xalex094 : 5. wait...what? Just 5?
I just looked it up, 5 attacks each 30 secs... so thats 10 every minute, so thats 100 every 10 mins. Yup bossing armor > smokescreen. Wait 20% chance? wow lets see... each 5 attacks you get 5 blocks... ok someone plz calculate that for me... im too lazy :P
