| Hi Basil, I have a little problem. As I was away this afternoon my mother took it upon herself to redecorate my bedroom. I come back and it's a complete mess. I was astonished at how different my room had become. I had a hard time adjusting to it in the beginning when I had first moved into this apartment almost 7 months ago. Now it's like I'm reliving the cycle of a new house and new room all over again. I haven't sat still for the past 2 hours or so just turning back and forth looking at how different my room had become. It was like I was some sort of animal trying to adjust to a new habitat that had been built by people instead of it being a creation by mother nature. I tried moving things back and forth, back and forth, back and forth over and over trying to make my bedroom to the way it was before, but whenever I move something it's like the room continues to change in a different significant I never thought of seeing it. I felt as though my room had been tampered with... like if it had grown a fungus and just started to spread onto every piece ground it could cover. I can't change it back either, my mother is a very obnoxious women that looks at right and wrong backwards. Tell me Basil, do you think I'm overreacting? |

|
ChubbySnail : She should've asked first... Bleggggg i
Not many people would really agree with this. I do live with my parents, I don't own the apartment or anything so there isn't much I can say but just argue with my mother about it. My father is just someone that steps into the whole thing when it gets out of hand, neither me or my mother walk away with the last word after my father puts his foot down. I honestly wish we had never moved from our old apartment 7 months ago. The apartment was better then this one, at least it was in my opinion. Everyone had there own room, my brother shares his with my parents in the current one we're living in. I have my own room, 3 times the size of the other room I had before, but I loved that small room. Just by closing the door behind me when I entered it allowed me to escape from the world and just be by myself. |

| No, I'd be pretty much pissed if my dad came in and rearranged my room without my consent. |

| I don't think it's her room, so she didn't have the right to change it even though they run it. |

|
LaughingGas : 90% of everyone else has the same or a similar problem. I really think everyone is at fault here. I mean, she really should have asked your first. I understand how you feel, how it's now harder to find everything because it's all been placed differently. It's also invasive, it's common courtesy to notify someone before you go around tampering with things that they would have been otherwise unaware of. But you know... she was doing it for your sake. It's not like she had bad intentions, I doubt she wanted to move things around to piss you off or anything. Plus, if you had visitors, she just did you a favour and make the place look more attractive, saved you embarassment there. Next time, I think you should talk to her and tell her how you feel. If she still insists on making the room clean, you should suggest that you do it yourself, so atleast you know where everything is.
The room hasn't had any drastic changes to it, my bed is in the same position is was before, and my computer. She moved 1 of the Burroughs and threw in a small table addition to room, which I broke not to long ago by standing on it because she had also torn down my shades. The sunlight beams pretty damn hard into my room, seeing as how we live on the 3rd floor. Just by explaining those changes, you would probably look at the situation more differently and then think I would be overreacting, but I still can't get over the fact she changed the room around. @ Above : If I wanted a redecorated room, I would have done it myself in the way I pictured it. I like doing things myself, rather than having other people do things for me, especially behind my back when I tell them not to do anything in the first place. |
