Hey basil. I just bought a Nexxtech 2616440 Mic. I have Ventrilo downloaded and I can hear my friends on it but when i try to speak all they hear is static. Can someone help me out with this and help me get my mic working. Thanks.

Hmm not sure how your setting are all set-up but whenever i tried i had to alt-tab out of maplestory for my push to talk button to work. They hear static though so your push-to-talk button is definitely working. Is your inbound turned up?

Maybe you should try plugging the microphone into the computer. :3

You can use the "Test" buttons in the Ventrillo configuration to make sure your setup is working before you go online. When you hit the PTT button anything you say in the mic gets recorded and it plays back in the headphones when you release the button, just to check it's working and how the volume levels are. You should also be able to test the mic itself without Ventrillo- when the mic is plugged in, working, AND your Windows setups are right, you should hear the mic whenever you talk into it over the speakers (or headphones if you have them plugged in). No need to run any special program or push any buttons. If there's a "mute" switch on your mic/headphone cord make sure it's turned so the mic works. Make sure the Mic Volume is turned up in Windows- that's the #1 source of problems like this. Right-click the speaker icon next to the clock in your taskbar and select "Open Volume Control". Make sure the Mute box on "Microphone" is NOT checked, and that the slider is turned all the way up. With Ventrillo and my specific mic, I also had to click the "Advanced" button on the Mic Volume Control and check the box marked "Other Controls- Microphone Boost" to make it loud enough to be heard online. The settings in Ventrillo can be a little tricky to get right, and their documentation really is bad so you kind of have to play around with it a while to get the volumes right. Use the "Test" button to hear what it sounds like.
