Birthday + iPod = Cheap iPad

Okay, Basil I am coming to you today with a question / scenario of sorts: In a few days I will turn 16. As my birthday present, my parents are giving me around a 1,000 USD to purchase the laptop I have been looking forward to for three years. With this money, I am purchasing a 15" MacBook Pro. This being said, I will also receive an 8GB iPod Touch free of charge. There is a kid down the street that sells Apple products that he bought from people to whom acquired them in a strange manor. He has made me a deal that I can pay 500 or so for a 64GB (or 32) iPad. So, with $200 in my pocket from the iPod, I'd be a fool not to buy it. The only thing I'm worried about is the iPad turning up to be defective beyond repair which wouldn't be a great thing for me. Anyways, what does Basil think I should do?

[/quote] Get a Toshiba then. o_O I got a Toshiba Satellite in 2000 and it still works fine now, although I'm on my new one more. Either way, I wouldn't skip out on a laptop and iPod just for an iPad. iPad's just came out. There's still lots of upgrading and fixing to do on them, and the prices will drop in time. Go with a laptop.

In my opinion, Windows last longer than Mac.. But your choice, anyways should be better not to buy the iPad, for some reason it's a 'good' deal no ?

seriously 1000$ for a macbook? that can't even run.... maplestory let alone anything worth playing. i bought this laptop last week cos gov is offering a 50% rebate to highschool students. (got it for 1090) really powerful, been able to run tf2 and bioshock on max settings with like 100fps, currently downloading just cause 2. :D EDIT: just read some comments, luckily as a mac-loving-pc-hater (LOL), valve is publishing most of their fps's for mac.

the ipad has no real usage...ipod is more versatile, mac is more powerful. get the mac + ipod combo
