They last for an hour, but is it the old "Go in the map, get an hour timer" thing, or is it the "Hey, this ticket is in your inventory for an hour. Feel free to exit/enter any map for an hour long!"

The best thing to do is to use it for half an hour, then enter again for 28 or 29 minutes, then leave again. A minute before it expires enter again for a free half an hour.
