Cant port Foward properly >.>

Hello, I just recently upgraded my internet plan and they put in another router in my basement which acts as a modem too. It is called Optik TV and internet From telus. And i cant seem to port foward like i normally do, which is just port fowarding on my Linksys WRT54G. For my other "router/ modem" model it is a DLINK DVA-G3810BN-TL. Thank you in advance for people who will solve this problem @.@. I also have two computers i want to port foward. If that helps... One is running windows 7 and one is running windows vista.

Lol- I wrote many of the guides at portforward.com, at one time anyway. Basically the problem is that the new DLINK is BLOCKING your ports too. You need to portforward BOTH routers, which is the kind of thing that can drive certified network engineers into jumping out corporate windows. If SHOULD work, but often just does not. If you can portforward the DLINK to the Static IP address of the Linksys WAN port (which has to be assigned a Static IP address in the DLINK setups), and THEN portforward the Linksys to the Static IP address of your computer, THEN you might stand a chance of getting it working. The main question is: why are you wanting to use the WRT54G at all..? The DLINK has wireless also. Is it because you can't get a signal from the DLINK in your basement..? Have you tried it..? The BEST solution would be to install the Linksys in your closet, up on the top shelf safely unplugged where it won't block any ports any longer, and keep it as a "spare", then just portforward the DLINK like you used to do the Linksys. If you absolutely can't get a good signal from the DLINK, you need to change the way the Linksys is connected to neuter the router inside it, and use it as a "Wireless Access Point" so it will just broadcast the signal from the basement router, without blocking anything. Then you portforward the DLINK and enjoy. I found a page that gives (somewhat confused) instructions about how to do that here: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=991299 The first message from "bcastner" is the one containing the actual instructions. (Come to think of it, I may have written a guide on PortForward.com about how to do this too- don't remember for sure. If so, I think I can guarantee it'll be both about 10 times as long, and a lot easier to follow. But I don't know for sure if there's anything like that there now.) Basically you need to take the plug on the cable from the DLINK out of the Linksys WAN socket, and move it to one of the LAN sockets. This removes the router section of the WRT54G from the circuit, and sends the signal from the DLINK (and thus the Interent) to the wireless section of the Linksys, and from there on to your computer. In addition you need to go into the Linksys settings (best to plug your computer into a LAN port to mess with this part), and assign the Linksys to a different wireless CHANNEL than the DLINK so the two signals won't interfere with each other. Also you need to turn OFF the DHCP server in the Linksys, AND assign it a Static WAN IP address in the SAME IP ADDRESS RANGE as the DLINK. I haven't looked at any of the DLINK documentation to see what IP address range they use, but this is often one of the big problems in using two different routers together- they often have different IP address ranges which can really mess you up. well, the thing is i dont know how to setup a Static ip for my l;inksys router throught dlink. Edit: I have two wires one is comeing from the wall to my linksys its grey. And i have a gigiabit etherntee going form thiks computer to the linksys router. So should i just plug in the gigabit ethernet to replace the grey wire going to my linksys? into the wall
