 | Depending on what you're doing with it, increasing the amount of RAM may help. It's not a "magic bullet" guaranteed to turn your computer into a hot-rod, but it can help, again depending on what applications you run. Another thing you can try when you notice it feeling slower is to restart the computer. That will clean out any "memory leaks" that may be eating up your 1GB of RAM. Keeping the hard drive cleaned out and defragmented can help (very marginally) with the "feeling" of being slow, and scanning regularly for viruses and spyware (with specific scanners for EACH thing) may help if any of the slowdown is due to malware using CPU cycles. The only other reason I can think of for being "slower" after being on for a while might be if it's overheating and the CPU is throttling down to avoid heat damage. With a desktop, it's easy to open the case and check (and clean) the fans and heatsinks, but with a laptop that's a great deal more difficult to do. The problem with heating is that the effect would be noticed a great deal sooner than ~4 hours. |
