Why the hell do some straight guys even bother?

Why the hell do some straight guys even bother to try and show people that they aren't homophobic when clearly they are? I'd rather be around a stereotypical homo-bashing straight guy who's atleast honest about it , than around some nice guy who claims to be totally fine around the gays and bis, but irrelevantly uses it against them if they feel like it, or if they think it'll impress some girl, or their friends. Ironic because most of the time, the gays/bis are close friends with the girls they're trying to impress . I'm really grateful towards the straight guys who are actually alright with the gays and the bis, regardless of whether they act like 'normal' males, or if they are flower throwing fruit baskets, however I can't stand the ones who just say they're not homophobic so people won't give them crap about it.

I could be described under the 'nice guy' you're talking about. However, i understand the sense that homosexuals can't change who they are. Although i like to think that im generally accepting towards homosexuals [and a few of my female friends are, which im fine about], i can get slightly cautious towards male homosexuals if im unsure of their intentions. However, this probably just sounds like im claiming that homosexuals are sexual predators, and i apologize if i am interpreting it that way. But yeah, for the most part, homosexuals don't bother me all that much. Edit: As whatzcrackin said, aslong as they're accepting of my sexuality, i have no problem.

[/quote] I'm not talking about people like you, I'm talking about the ones who claim they aren't homophobic, but you can tell by some of their comments that they are truly scared that a gay/bi person will jump on them at any moment and try to harass them sexually. Another thing that bothers me are males who think that all gays like them for some reason, you know, the ones who are like "As long as they don't come on to me". Why do people think that gays want to come on to a homo-hating straight guy? I guess it must be hard for them to imagine a scenario they can relate to, because apparently "no" means "yes" when it comes to girls.

The point is that a homosexual may or may not be attracted to a guy, regardless if he is straight or not. You know the whole controversy with homosexuals being allowed in change rooms? I don't know about other people, but i sure wouldn't feel comfortable changing with homosexuals. It was in the Australian news a few weeks back arguing whether or not Australian footballers should keep their sexuality hidden or not.
