If you need a simple tank that highlights the aesthetics of fish rather than decorations, you can get a cheap stand by stacking cinderblocks. 16"x12"x8" high cinderblock for $2.67 at home depot. So every $10.68, 4 cinder blocks at each corner of the tank, elevates your tank by 8". Relatively cheap and no labor other than stacking the blocks. If your tank is less than 16" in width, you only need $5.34, 2 blocks at each side, to elevate your tank 8".
