Chaosing, stats gone forever ?

If a 1 atk pac gets chaosed and it goes to 0 atk, can u re-chaos and the atk comes back or is it gone for food?

EDIT: And that is not just one stat. It can add 2 to defense and subtract 1 from attack, or any other combination, within 5 points of difference.
