What's the most expensive thing to farm for?

Just wondering, if I wanted to farm for an item, which item should I farm for? Most expensive would probably be the best, right?

For me Crimson Woods are better to farm than PoTs. 14 hours gave me 0 PoTs, while in 14 hours I can get 250 crimson woods (175m total).

Yea crimson woods has got me quite a bit also, but I havent tried for pots

Does a higher level monster of a higher chance of dropping a specific item (such as a chaos scroll) then a lower level monster?
