Finally finished it... sorry for the long-ish wait. Was busy getting my hero to 130 :D Post what you think! I appreciate all types of feedback. Oh! I've changed a part in chapter 1. Instead of telling him to go see Minerva, his grandfather told him to go see Grendel. Enjoy! : ) Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3: Prophecies and Magic When all is silent, dead and cold When monsters stir and fires burn A tragic story doth unfold Beware; The Dark One hath returned Far below the souls of metal Where dark and evil creatures lie Through brush and bramble, trees and nettle Make your way through absent sky Steel your mind, look straight ahead Do not falter, pause, delay Pay no heed to those long dead The fire inside shall light the way From the North seek those with strength With muscle, sinew, tissue, bones Though the journey be of length They shall topple blackened thrones In the East look to the trees Where a silent magic brews When intellect holds all the keys Wisdom of the mind ensues In the West where shadows reign Live those who steal and swipe You must enter their domain Under cloaking of the night Of Southern folk one thing is sure With steadfast aim and sight Their hearts are truest, loyal and pure Seek their aid to end your plight When dark abides and light reveals A broken land; soaked in tears Only one with blood of steel Shall break the night and end all fears Nick wiped the sweat from his forehead as he knelt to examine a bent twig on the ground. The beast had definitely passed here. He breathed heavily in the forest air, his nose twitching involuntarily as he caught the Balrogs scent. Judging by its strength, Nick figured he was only half a day behind the monster. Which made it all the more frustrating that the young adventurer had absolutely no idea where it had went. For the past two weeks signs of the beasts presence had been abundant: crushed vegetation, bent branches, the decaying carcasses of other monsters, and always, the ever-present smell of decay and filth. But now, after over two weeks of diligent tracking the trail was lost. Nick swore as he scanned the area for the umpteenth time. Birds chirped in the background as the noonday sun forced its way through the dense trees to the forest floor below. The forest was untouched in all directions; it was as if the creature had simply vanished from this Earth. With a yell Nick lunged at the nearest tree, hacking it with his sword as if it were the monster that had slain his grandparents. He was lost, alone, and without purpose in a seemingly endless sea of trees, and Nicks frustration with the recent turn of events fueled his anger as he continued his onslaught. Oblivious to the world around him, Nick heard nothing as something stirred in the bushes surrounding the small clearing he found himself in. A lone eyeball peered out of the shadows of a giant maple tree, staring intently at the human who was destroying its home. Another eye joined it, then another, until a ring of eyes stared o

Not much I can say; it was pretty good. Oh, one thing though.
Providence : Nick swore he could of seen a quick flash of bright steel, explaining the monsters gruesome doom.
When you use a quote, it's fine to use "could of" because of dialect, but generally for narrators, you'll want as accurate grammar, usage and mechanics as possible. So, for future reference, use "could have" when not using quotes.
