| So, is it possible to receive your CAHSEE essay back once you take it? The prompt for the essay this year was something like: "Write about an experience where you had to give up something in order to achieve something else?" I wrote about how I was chosen to be the God of the entire Universe...but to become the God of the Universe I had to place the sacred blue orb upon the sanctuary of the Gods. My parents were reluctant, because they knew this would be the last time they would ever see me as their child again, once I became the Master of the Universe. For this reason, I allowed my parents to come with me to the ancient ruins of the Roman Era in order to witness my transformation into a God. It was heavily raining, and both lightning and thunder glorified the skies, almost like a fireworks show. I slowly, but eagerly, took determined steps toward the stool upon which I was suppose to place the orb. My parents sadly followed behind me, wishing me the best of luck, and hoping for things to go well. After the three longest minutes of my life, I reached the stool, and it was time for me to place the orb upon the stool. I read the script of the Universe and dissembled the barrier of the stool so I could easily place the orb in its place and declare myself God of the Universe. The time started ticking, I was given 1 minute to place the orb in its place. I turned around, to say goodbye to my parents one last time. They both cried eagerly as I wished them goodbye. I then turned around to place the orb in it's place, but as soon as I turned around, I heard a loud strike and the screams of two very familiar people. As I turned behind me, I saw my parents lying on the ground, about to die, and I could not fathom the situation. Tears flew out my face, and I did not know what to do. I knew I had less than 30 seconds to decide.... Save my parents from death, or become the God of the Universe. This was the choice of a lifetime. Becoming the God of the Universe was something any person would accept in a minute, including me. No one would pass up such a chance. I had been long awaiting this moment for many years in my life, but the knowledge of my parents death was too large for me to bear. I saw the barrier beginning to close, and at that moment I realized what I had to do. I asked myself, "What would my parents want me to do?" So I grabbed the blue orb, and I...I threw it to the ground, shattering it into a million pieces. At that moment, I heard the screams of the Gods all over the Universe, the momentous uproar was unbearable, and of course every God that ever existed could not fathom my choice....and neither could I. But I quickly grabbed my parents and gave them a Godlike potion strictly created for my good-being. It was against the rules of the Universe, but I decided the life of my parents was far more important than the Universe itself. A selfish act indeed, but a selfish act worth recognizing. Of course, I did manage to save my parents, but at the cost |
