Playing Maplestory strategically.

Introduction I've been playin since v03 or v02, not sure. Before pin codes, and before Aqua World, before Ossyria/Orbis, back when we'd have to quit because we got stuck in sleepywood. I've gotten every class to lv35 or more in GMS, and I have further experience I shouldn't talk about. I'm going to explain to my fellow ladies and gentlemen how to strategically train, hopefully all of you newer players and a few of you older players learn something. Mages Skill+Teleport Use a skill, and press teleport when its near the ending animations. Pros : You're able to move closer to the next monster, or further away if this monster does not knockback and will severely hurt you. Cons: You use an extra 60mp (if level 1). You might teleport in to a monster. Poison brace mobbing (2nd job) With poison brace, attack as many monsters as possible with poison, and make circle. Go around the map poisoning. When you reach a monster you've already poisoned it'll die when you attack it. When you circle again, a fresh monster will be poisoned. Pros : Able to fight higher leveled monsters. Cons : Easily KS'ed. Not as fast as Fire Arrow on same/lower leveled monsters. Freeze protection (2nd job) When training, if you're surrounded use Cold Beam and freeze the monster in front of you, then use it once to freeze a monster behind you. 1-2 second freeze is long enough to kill both while not getting hit. With 2 second freeze, this can be applied to multiple monsters. Lightning versus magic claw/Cold Beam Lightning is easier than Power Strike and Avenger. Only attack if there is 2+ unless they are ice weak, then attack if 3+. If they are ice weak and lightning strong (i doubt) only attack if there is 6. Warriors Using power strike versus slash blast Only use slash blast if there is 3+ unless you're trying not to get hit and fighting 2. (MP potions vs HP potions when there is 2) Brandish vs Rush Brandish is pretty much better in all situations. Use Rush when you need to group them all up, whether in a corner or just in front of you. Charged Blow vs keeping Element Charged Blow + Rebuff time vs Slash Blast is the real question. If you use charged blow on 4 monsters, and one hit them all, you have saved time. You can rebuff mid jump on the way to more monsters, and save about 2-3 seconds, which can add up. Definitely use Combo Charge if there is a mob in front of you and you're about to run out of element charge. Pros : Charged Blow stuns, and eventually overpowers Slash Blast by almost twice the damage. Cons : You need to rebuff and element, making the damage difference be Charged blow 10% weaker. Choose stun or 10% damage. Bandits Double Stab vs Savage Blow Savage Blow passes up Double Stab in terms of damage at lv9, but only by 8%. Jump + attack Pretty simple. If you one hit kill a monster, and don't wanna stop to hit it, press jump and attack before you attack over its head. Note that you need to attack at the start of the jump so you finish by the end. Pros : You get to keep

Charged Blow vs keeping Element Sorry I can't really remember whether Charged Blow is the skill that cancels the element, and hidden-street isn't too clear. It does until you get ACB in 4th job. Inferno vs Arrow Bomb In example, if you're training gobies, and really don't want to get hit, spam arrow bomb on the house, and continue spamming when the gobies pop out. Arrow bomb does less damage than inferno, but stuns. Decide whether you want HP or exp. Because of arrow bomb's crit formula, arrow bomb with SE is stronger than inferno with SE.

If the intend is to help the newbies, you might want to post this on the nexon forums because not many newbies even know basilmarket exists. ._. sadly i knew most of these things, seems decently helpful to those who are newer.

Uh.. Most of the advices here are pretty obvious. I think most players use them without even thinking about it.

Charged Blow should be used when your Element is about to run out or if you gotta stun something and you don't have Ice Charge on. EDIT: Some of those are fairly... "DUH" moments... I mean, if you're a Hero... of course hitting 20k*2 is more efficient than 10k on a monster. A Hero should KNOW by then that Brandish is their main move. If you don't, then either you hacked the account, are a hacker, or are too young to be playing the game.

On the inferno vs. arrow bomb section, it's more or so stun vs. non-stun. You would not want to use arrow bomb at say, typhons, as the monsters would just drop to the bottom, and I don't think most people use arrow bomb at gobies either, arrow rain is more used there I believe. Also, inferno vs arrow rain and blizzard vs. arrow erruption is kind of pointless in my opinion. Also, you might want to add using puppet on a different platform against a boss to make the boss do nothing but walk around.

They keep getting pushed forward, causing enough delay for you to attack before they fall. |

Eh, really basic stuff, but good job anyways. xD If you are interested in strats/tactics, the Sin/Hermit/NL Bossing Guide (shameless self-promotion lol), Bowman Bossing Reference, Dit/CB/Shad Techniques Guide, and Dit/CB/Shad Bossing Guide are all stickies in their respective forums that demonstrate some solid stuff. xD
