ok so at school i have this friend who cuts himself and listens to Escape the Fate therefore saying he's emo. From what i know, emos are sad, depressed, emotional people who hate their lives. However he's none of those things, he likes living and has good friends and is barely sad. so i'm asking this, is my friend a wannabe emo, not an emo at all, emo, or is just craving attention?

I scratch myself with pencils from time to time. It doesn't leave a mark. But I'd never cut myself with a real knife. I get depressed at times and really just need something to take my mind off my troubles. I am a wannabe emo, but don't wanna be emo too. I have problems.
