Im doing a speech on insulin pumps. Does anyone know any credible people/quotes that could be beneficial for talking about insulin pumps...Ya, i know its a boring topic..no idea why i picked it. So far, I included Nick Jonas and Randy Jackson. Any others? Or any intriguing facts you got for me about insulin pumps O_O?

I definitely thought that first sentence said "I'm doing speed in an insulin pump."

BobRHave you checked the sites of manufacturers like MedTronic and Animas for info about their specific products..? They also usually have quite a bit of info and even videos about them. Also sites like DiabetesNetwork : http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_technology/insulinpumps.php and Diabetes Self Management : http://www.diabetesselfmanagement.com/blog/ often have info about pumps and insulin pump news. Magazines like Diabetes Health also: http://www.diabeteshealth.com and of course the American Diabetes Association: http://www.diabetes.org/ If you're looking for an interesting facet to the subject, check out the research on developing the "artificial pancreas" which will go a long way toward saving a lot of lives. Essentially it combines an insulin pump (which currently has to be manually adjusted by pretty much guessing how much you've eaten to set the dosage), and a "continuous glucose monitor" device which constantly takes blood sugar level readings and sets the pump automatically, thus essentially duplicating the natural function of a healthy pancreas. This will produce a "closed loop feedback" process which will allow much better control of the disease. @0th3r- if you don't need insulin you DON'T take it- it'll kill you. And, weight gain is only a minor side-effect and can be easily controlled. Plus it's better than dying.
