If you put up a zhelm for 1k

If you put up a zhelm for 1k starting price in the auction; confident that it will raise to 50m because everyone will keep on bidding; but your theory goes wrong, and somebody wins the auction for 10k; will you still sell the zhelm to that person? The reason I posted this is because I always see people putting up godly stuff in the auction with a starting price of 1k, 10k etc.. and when I check a day later; the highest bid in that auction is around 100m. (depending on the item) So I was wondering if somebody won with a low amount of mesos; if the host would still sell.

yes, because its the users fault for starting the auction at 1k in the first place without a reserve price. Its the sellers fault if he/she was lazy to actually start it off at a decent price if I did it, i'd still sell, but learning that i was dumb enough to not fix the price

There's no way that would happen, even on Basil. It would at least get to 300k-700k, but I don't think people would do that. If by chance it did happen, I would sell it because it would ruin my reputation for bids and it was my fault anyway for trying that.

Bidders can be incredibly stupid; I've seen items worth hundreds of millions of mesos go from the 100k range to the "hundred million" range in a single bid. It always starts out really small, and then some idiot runs in and ruins everything, because he's so confident that if he didn't do it, someone else would. But none of them understand the flaw in their reasoning. Or, who knows, maybe the "idiot" is actually the seller. As far as I know, buyers should have a vested interest in keeping an item cheap for as long as possible. That said, I wouldn't sell it. I'd take the negative feedback and put it in my shop instead, or simply auction it again. Unethical? Perhaps. But this is why I never pull those stunts to begin with.

basil and maple are 2 dif things, even if some1's action ends in 100k for a 10att cape he doestn have to sell it to that person. if basil was the official `action house` for maple then it would, what kind of person will sell something for less while nowin its worth more.

I'd sell it because I don't want it to ruin my rep, but then again I won't be like some other people and put up an expensive item for 1k and 'hope' it gets to the price I want it at.

So basically you are saying it makes you stupid to anticipate what others will do?

[/quote] This is exactly what bothers me, though. The entire process is extremely circular. In worrying that someone else will perform the action, I perform the action and reaffirm everyone's belief that "someone else" will perform the action. As a result, the action continues in other auctions by people who fear that "someone else" will perform the action. The whole thing is only stupid because all of the buyers should have a vested interest in doing the opposite and keeping the price low, but instead people rush to push the price up as quickly as they can, out of fear that "someone else" will do it.

I said this once before a while back. This isn't E-bay and we don't necessarily have to play by the rules. There is no LAW that will get us thrown in jail by not honoring the sale. Its just a game, The only reason one would sell is because of their own stupidity and their definition of "Game Ethics"

Look at my feedback and you will know my answer. .....If it isn't obvious enough..... My answer would be "yes". If, god forbid, I was dumb enough to making the starting price so low, without a reasonable reserve price, and the auction ended with a winning bid at that low price, I would definitely sell the item at the final auction price. Luckily for me, I am not dumb enough to make a starting bid below my minimum selling price. I don't use the reserve price feature so my starting bid is always the amount I am willing to sell the item for. My initial starting bid is usually above my minimum selling price and then the starting bids starts to go lower little by little until I reach my minimum selling price. -I don't use the reserve price feature and make a baiting starting price because I don't need non-serious bidders filling up My Auction's page with useless bids thus stretching the page to an unnecessary length. Final note: It is completely the seller's fault and no blame can be placed on the winning bidder. It is the seller's own fault for not making the starting bid the minimum selling price or to set a proper reserve price or to delete the auction before it ends. The seller has 3 easy and obvious features that s/he could've used to prevent an unwanted winning bid price. Seriously, seller is only one at fault and no one else is to blame.
