Or more accurately, the person paying to have me DC hacked; **** you. Because of your cowardice, and your refusal to bring your complaints directly to me, I will now lose $30 worth of 10-day exp/drop cards, and the ability to reach goals that I set for myself during this mapler/welcome back ring event. You may feel that I've become "annoying and [arrogant]*" since I got my spear; I politely disagree. Yes, I make a big deal when I meet one of my major goals. And yes, that's been happening a little more frequently lately, due to my use of this event. If you feel that that qualifies as bragging, or find it "annoying and [arrogant]*", then you should bring that directly to me, not pay some random guy with a bank of computers to put Naughty on lockdown for a week. I don't know who you are, or even if you're someone from Basil, but I do know that you're someone who has to have known me for a while, since the complaint is about how I've become "since I got my spear". I do know one other thing, as well - you are a coward, hiding behind a screen of someone willing to break the rules of the game and exploit scripted code to destroy my gaming experience, rather than approaching your problems head on and perhaps showing me where I am wrong. Here, I call you out. Whoever you are, stop hiding, and stand up for what you believe. If you think I'm that bad, be man (or woman) enough to tell me that to my face. I'm open to criticism, and always have been. My stance has always been that anything I have, is stuff ANYONE can get, if they work for it. I've just had longer to do so. Apparently, this makes me a braggart? Well, alright. But if you don't have the cajones to approach me face to face - or as close to that as we can get on the intarwebz - then your opinion is moot, and nothing will change. All you've done is force me off my main character for a week, which yes, pisses me off.. but I can deal. You? Get to deal with knowing that you're a coward and a hacker by proxy. What makes the DC hack work? I've noticed when someone does it on my desktop Maplestory Crashes, but when I'm on my laptop I only start lagging slightly. It does have better specs though.

I can't describe precisely how the DC hacks work - which I do understand, having a slight coding background, despite being unwilling to even use anti-hack tools which would be considered "third party" - but essentially it's because your laptop handles the whisper overload better than your desktop. If your computer is stronger than the DC hackers, you can typically survive it. From what this individual told me, however, he's got fifteen computers running several instances of maple each, using them to basically meso farm by DC hacking and then being paid not to do it. I refuse to let a hacker benefit from anything I do, period.

Eh, nothing can be done now. I at least managed to get a slight reprive, supposedly to try and make 200m to pay him not to DC me. Decided during that time that he can... do something exceptionally rude and censored on these forums. No hacker will benefit from me if I can help it.

Well, that really sucks. I can't believe anyone would be such a numbnut to think you're arrogant in any way. I don't know you, but I'm sure you're not being rude to anyone concerning your spear. Like "Haha, IN YOUR FACE, BIATCH!11one" From what I read on this thread starting post, you seem pretty happy on your new spear and want ppl to know it. Now someone thinks you can't do that? I can't believe this s**t. Like others have said, the jealousy has gone too far now. And Daniel, unfortunately, it can last longer than you might expect.

It does have better specs though. [/quote] Forgot I was say something about this. The dc hack works on a basic level because our chat is client to client -- there is no server sided control over it. So when you whisper someone your comp talks directly to their comp. So with a packet editor you can spam whisper packets to someone. This causes an overload on your computer where it can't keep up with how many packets are being sent to it so it disconnects you. Since all the chat is client to client there is no check on the server to see if you have whispers disabled, meaning the whisper packet goes to your comp and then your comp checks to see if you have whispers blocked or not to determine if you see the whisper, which is why disabling chats does nothing. Now if you have a better comp then the dc hacker you are able to process all the packets being sent faster then the hacker can send them to you resulting in you not being dc'd because there is no system overload. Most of the time this just means that the dc hacker will either turn on another comp or recruit a buddy to help out though. I have no idea how a packet blocker works. I have heard something about being able to filter the packets by using another computer as a sort of screener on what you receive but I don't think that's how all of the public packet blockers work. I'm guessing it has something to do with making it appear like you are offline but this is all just speculation. So if anyone knows I'm interested from just a logics standpoint on how they do it.

I've had it for a very long time. In fact, the only reason anyone knows its actual stats is because they ask - I don't go around going "LOL I HAS SPEAR WITH 4382943274893 ATTACK LOLOLOL". Sure, when I was scrolling it, I would go "Yay +#" on my BL, announcing that I'd managed to scroll another slot.. apparently this, along with being pleased when I make a significant gear upgrade, makes me an arrogant braggart. [/quote] Another possibility is that it simply blocks the port that the whispers come in from. So essentially it takes the line from their computer to yours, and puts a wall in front of it, stopping your computer from ever receiving those packets. The problem there, of course, is that it would block ALL whispers you would get, ever.

It's not about the lost exp. That's... just exp. And the lost PoTs are just money. It's the fact that one person can exert their will over another in such a way as to leave them unable to use their main character, with no way to fight back, that pisses me off like this. As I said nexon needs to fix this problem. It's been going on far to long. On a sepperate note did you finish scrolling your spear if I recall it had 2 slots left.
