Mercy Killing: Yes or no?

So, while scrolling on a website, i stumbled across a story about a canadian soldier who killed a horribly wounded, unarmed islamic insurgent out of mercy. The man had massive chest wounds, his leg was torn apart by a bomb, and shrapnel was embedded throughout his body. Medical support was nowhere near the site, and the soldier was presented with very few options. He chose to kill the man. However, because law dictates that murder of any unarmed personnel is illegal, this soldier was convicted of manslaughter, and a huge legal battle ensued. In any case, do you believe that mercy killing, of any kind, whether it be in war, in hospitals, etc, should be legal? (under specific circumstances, that is). Ethnically, and logically, do you agree that this can be acceptable, or do you think it is absolutely unacceptable?

Yes, it's called euthanasia and I think it's perfectly acceptable should the other party agree to it It's not widely accepted but I personally think it should be As for the soldier, I dunno if I'd have the heart to do it, but I think he made the right decision btw what happened to the soldier?

that soldier did the right thing. either way that man was probably going to die from his wounds. would they preferred he leave the man dying in pain cuz of his wounds? i know i wouldn't. if it was me i would have done the same thing as the soldier. my beliefs, heart and conscious wouldn't have allowed me to even think about leaving him there to die. mercy killing or euthanasia is acceptable as long as the other person agrees.

In my opinion, no, unless the person REALLY wants to be killed.

If the other person is severely wounded or has something fatal and consents, it should be allowed. If the other person is so incapacitated that they can't even decide, then that's also an indication that it would be alright to perform euthanasia.
