Thoughts on Communism

In the Cold War, in America, it was considered traitorous to even consider Communism. A lot of Americans think it's terrible, without knowing how it works, only because the government says so. However, is Communism that bad? Are there ways to fix problems with it? Could it be used well over an extended period of time? Or is it simply a terrible idea in general? I'm interested in seeing your thoughts.

When i went to Vietnam it seemed quite peaceful even under communist rule We had a cermony recently about the Fall of Saigon during the War. But it isnt too bad just to let u know, i had fun there

It's not as bad as you think, I don't think it's great but a lot of Americans think it's much worse then it really is, and a lot of Americans also think that we have a Democratic government, lol.

Its actually a very good idea for a government but, its prone to corruption so its difficult to deal with the upkeep of a Communist society, without corruption and with proper resources, a nation under Communism can easily become a superpower.

I'm just interested in seeing other opinions. @above Yeah, it seems like one of those things that work great in theory, but don't work so great in the real world.

Not Communism. Communism was flawed from the start. What was applicable was Marxism, which only failed because people had no restraint.

I personally think Communism is great but the fact is it just wont work out because eventually some power hungry person will come along and claim them self ruler, it's a great idea but everyone has to have the same mindset for it to work.

Uhm... Communism is only effective when men itself are THE government and there is no superior group above them. And the key factor to consider is the nature of men. If men are evil, communism CANNOT work If men are good, we dont need communism. So either way, it fails.

Anyone saying Communism is bad watches way too much T.V. Communism is good,everyone is equal,the kind of communism you guys are confused with is the totalitarian one,where one dude dominates everyone,but it's not the case of every country,only Birmania,North Korea and a few other countries. The normal communism is good and anyone who goes to school will live a good life,while the lazy ones will end up begging for money. Just watch Cuba,it seems poor,but cities are pretty decent,yet,they have the BEST trained Physicians along with Indians. Check the statistics on how many people goes to India or Cuba to get treated.
