okay okay I know this question has most likely been answered a thousand times, but no matter where I look I can not get a straight answer. My cleric is about to be lvl 70 and I am wondering which would be the best to max first. I have friends that I would most likely be training with lvl (lvl 70 aran, and my other friend who is a hermit) but I am just really confused about which one to max. I realize that most people probably maxed hs first but that was before the new exp ratio. If I max hs I will not do much attacking right and then I wouldnt be gaining much exp? but if I max sr first my friends would not be as inclined to train with me. as you can tell I am very confused about this so really I am just looking for some pros and cons of both and which one is the best decision. also I was wondering if anyone ever maxed them together like 2sp into hs and 1 into sr or visa versa p.s I dont want all the priests saying that they maxed hs first and it was fine because most of you lvled up before the new exp ratio. Thanks in advance for all the help

Doing a hybrid build is not a good idea. You'll just have both skills which are too weak to be of any use. It'd be best to just choose one or the other.
himynameis3van : but if I max sr first my friends would not be as inclined to train with me.
That's why you solo train if you max SR first.

If you're gonna be party training, then HS would be the skill to max first. Simply because I don't think you'll be killing much anyways, or killing any faster than your friends. SR is for solo training. I'm sure I would still choose to max HS first before SR even if I'mma be doing solo training. I rather suffer in the low levels, than dying to get to a certain higher level so my HS will be maxed. SR attacks quite slow too, and it won't be that strong at early levels. I'd go with HS.

I agree with what MastaSella said about maxing one or the other first, rather than having two mediocre skills. He beat me to saying that! ;p I went Holy Symbol first, and my only problem with this were my 8x levels, where I had trouble finding a decent training area. (Yes, I tried Himes, Twisted Jesters, etc. Either slow EXP or high dying risks.) Yes, this experience of mine was after the new party formula, too. So it is recent information. (; If your goal is to train with fellow friends, then Holy Symbol would be the way to go.

If you have friends to train with, max HS first Maxed HS also benefits solo priests Shining Ray is a crappy attack really... heal outdamages it on undeads due to attack speed
awkwardwacko : Maxed HS also benefits solo priests
Hardly. It only gives 110% as opposed to 150% in a party.
awkwardwacko : Shining Ray is a crappy attack really... heal outdamages it on undeads due to attack speed
And Shining Ray would be used on non-healable monsters.
