Basilpeople, I've played my I/L since 2006 (with a break from mid-'07 until 2 months ago). I love the I/L class, and I'm not a damage hoar-- old-fashioned with 82 capped base luk and sorta-above-average equips. I like the attacks, I like the animations, I like everything. But my very first character on Maple was an archer. I love archers (mine's a bow-girl). I'm determined to finally make one past 2nd job. (I also like bossing. That doesn't exactly happen on mages.) My funds are limited, though. I don't gacha, I sell a few scrolls in my shop but I don't merch heavily. Point is: I don't have enough to seriously fully equip two chars. If I keep going far past 120 with my I/L, I'm going to have to at LEAST: - invest in a HTP - get a lv130 elewand (oh god). - start farming for PoTs because I'd also want to give her reverse equips (just because she has such high base luk that she can wear them). OR I can stop seriously training her past 125 or so (before the wand), sell blizzard leech (blehhh, leech), and just throw all the rest toward my archer. ...or something. -------------------------- My mage's cape, earrings, and zhelm are already satisfactory to me, though not godly, and I won't spend millions to get a few more int. IF I STOP on my mage, I could try to end-game my other equips-- I have a lv103 elestaff 4 above avg that I was going to scroll to oblivion anyway, and I could Maker a better Bazura (overall) than my current avg/clean one, and scroll it. End-gaming on equips around lv100 is a bit weak, though. OR I could sell off her good equips, karma the zhelm over, and only play my archer. This is pretty unlikely, and would keep me from selling leech (blehhh, leech). My tiny lv25 archer only has: - an 8 atk WG - some 6x dex cape - a whole bunch of pro bows she can't equip yet ... and she's going to need a PAC, speed equips (do archers still wear snowshoes these days?), dex earrings, probably her own zhelm, probably more stuff I don't even know about archers yet... -------------------------- Last notes: I'm probably going to play my archer semi-naturally, not just powerleeching (you can probably guess: blehhh) and CPQ wins alone. But I don't grind like hell so I won't level my archer OMFGQUICKLY. She's not gonna be a BM in a month. Or even 3 months. Also, they're on the same account (yay BoF!) so I can't leech myself. And I'll probably never specifically aim for ZOMGlv200 on either char. -------------------------- Sorry for the long post. This is also helping me get all my thoughts in one place. Yes, I know it's my decision in the end, but in the slim chance that there are some thoughtful people on Basil who actually read, any input/suggestions as to what the heck I should do?

You could always try to get to level 120+ on your i/l and then sell leech. When you've made enough mesos with selling leech, start funding your bowgirl :D

Personally, I would play your archer for a bit to take a break from your I/L. You sound like you enjoy both classes and picking one over the other generally doesn't work well because you end up going back to the other char later anyways. Give your archer enough funding to satisfy you while having enough funding to get what you want on your I/L aswell is what I say.

You said you're not a damage hoar. Why do you say you absolutely need all these equips then?

t0ky0mikeWell, you could always sell your ele wand 3 when your 130 to get an elewand 8. Edit : well, you could always get an estaff lightning one too.

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest you take it as it goes: play your archer. Play your mage. When you happen to reach level fifty on the former, see if your current economical status can handle a Zakum Helmet and a Pink Adventure Cape. If not, either keep on playing without them - it is not all the world crashing down - or focus a bit on your mage again, since a higher leveled character most likely has an easier time making money.

I'm actually like you, I have both an I/L AM and a BM. I loved my AM a lot, and thought wow, I'm going to get this char to 170+ and it's going to be AMAZING! Then I'll play my archer. However, I got my AM to about 14x before I realized how repetitive and expensive it is to spam blizzard at skeles. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing on Arch Mages or anything, but anyone will tell you that blizzard training can become extremely expensive. At 14x I was spending 30m+ on potions each level. You don't necessarily NEED to get a HTP or an Elewand 7, but I think if you're already considering forking out mesos for those things, you could afford some decent archer equips. As much as I love arch mages, I really enjoy that as a bowman, I'm able to output decent damage that actually makes me relevant on boss runs. I know arch mages can be invited to boss runs also, but it's fun being useful to a party (SE anyone?). Anyways, I'll stop rambling. I think you should get your I/L to AM, and get blizzard. It'll be good to have if you're ever in a tight spot for mesos and absolutely need to sell leech to fund yourself. You said yourself that you're not a damage hoar though, and I personally think that bowmen are a little more cost efficient if you aren't into absolutely NEEDING to have the most godliest items.

1- you can leech without a zhelm. my ms mom gave me her bishop and it had been stripped when she lent it to her ms hubby and well she 1~2 hit skeles consistently even though she didn't get gene30 or a zhelm. I'd keep the I/L till 12X, get a good level of BoF and be able to leech. Then get the equips for your archer little by little. 2 -until 70+ there's no need to worry about godly fundings. You'll use 4 chars to cpq free wins? For example, I have those 4 arans that are 42, 39, 38, 38 and am TWing against myself on cpq1... with 0 funding i can make 500+ cp per cpq. So I level like each hour or a bit more. If I take a week doing like 4 hours of cpq a day, i can easily get to 50+. in like 2~3 weeks i can get to 70+? if you spend like 4 hours a week on ms trainning your archer, in about 2 months you'll be 3rd job. 3- low str, normal build, str-less? If you go normal build, then don't really need to worry much about equips. you'll have enough str to equip most stuff. If you wanna go low str or str-less, you'll need to think about the end-game bow you'll use and how much str it will require before you start funding your equips. It can be quite costy, and then you'd probably want to sell leech to pay the costs of those equips. 4- archer equips -zhelm -PAC -either dex snowshoes, marker shoes or an att shoe (FS or xmas socks) -get a blue/red/black belt dojoing, or if you wanna spend bit more a immortal pharaoh belt and chaos it for att. -pendant: use a spiegelman for a while, then switch for a spiegelman chaos necklace if you're going to cpq2, and later on get a MoN (that will be cheaper than getting a Dep Star at 50 if you're patient to farm coins) -for now 8 att glove is ok, upgrade later to a 10~16 att -overal for dex either a bowman overal or a sauna/bathrobe... -get adventurer's ring when they are out -bow that considering you are not making an archer to be the most omgbbq my awesome damage pwns you archer. If you wanna go dmg hoar: -super well scrolled zhelm made with 10% and ws -60 stat overal -get the archer boss gloves and perfect scroll it -30 att xmas sock -perfect scrolled bow -spiegelman -> dep star at 50 -> MoN asap -make a aran ring mule get it to 70 till the end of month for the ring then later get a adv ring, if cant equip both rant on basil and choose adv ring -3 ancient rings or 2 ancient rings and a wedding ring perfect scrolled for either dex or str -10+ att belt -2/2/x/x broken glasses and scroll -18 dex rat mouth

Holy crap, thanks for the really thought-out response, ArthurSam. That helps me a lot since I didn't know what equips exactly to get. I most likely won't go damage hoar, though I can do things like transfer my mage's dep star over. To everyone who told me to get to 120 first: that was my intention for I/L. I'm just thinking about what happens after that. Thanks though.
FerrSure : You said you're not a damage hoar. Why do you say you absolutely need all these equips then?
I don't ~absolutely need~ them all, but to make myself the most helpful to my guild/BL/friends/leechers on any char, it's sort of a baseline. Those equips are just avg. if I were a full-out damage hoar, I wouldn't be happy with a clean zhelm and my 5/9 earrings, now would I? :P
couturepie : I'm actually like you, I have both an I/L AM and a BM.
Oh wow, thanks for the insight. I already figured being an I/L got somewhat repetitive past 140, but hearing a similar experience is pretty fantastic. I appreciate it a lot. @ PreMeta: That's the ideal scenario, yeah. I'm just also wondering about funding my archer from the get-go, and how much it affects her overall (for instance, having good int equips asap all the time for mages to get more MP/m.atk per level-up)
