Hey, guys. If anyone is good at Spanish, i just need some help understanding the differences. Like for example if your saying "George knows a lot of math", why is that conocer if you know information about something. Also, what other circumstances can you use conocer rather than saber. And, is "I know George is good at math" conocer or saber?

Saber means to know a fact or to know how to do something Conocer means to know someone or to be familiar with someone http://www.elearnspanishlanguage.com/grammar/verbs/saberconocer.html

conocer is "to be acquainted with" and saber is "to know" But conocer is used for places too.

it's really simple actually saber is knowing facts, informations, etc. conocer is being familiar with/knowing objects, places, and things.
Siddysidsid : Yes, im pretty sure its saber, but I dont understand why? Arent you knowing about a place?
Knowing mexico's location is knowing information, so it's saber. If it was, "I know Mexico" then it'd be conocer.

Saber = information Conocer = people (generally) In the event that you had a friend named Mexico, you would use conocer. However, since Mexico is commonly a place and not a name, you'd use saber instead of conocer, regardless if you are referring to it's location. "Yo s donde est Mexco." and "Yo conozco un Roberto tamben." Fact, information <==============> People On Jorge and Math. Since Math is information and facts, it would be saber. "Jorge sabe mucho sobre las matematicas."
