title pretty much says it all. I was just wondering what the advantages of saving sp are because that is mentioned in some of the builds I have been looking at.

Cause sometimes, you unlock skills at other lvls, so if you save up sp, you can instead of using it on something you don't need, you can put it on something later.

In addition, some skills actually don't help you unless they're maxed all at once and at a certain point (example: Final Attack for Saders helps while a Sader but not while a Fighter).

The amount of MP you spend per level is also a big factor.

Edit: Ninja'd In addition, the skill is sometimes a huge consumer without big output at early levels. For example, Fire Pillar for BWiz takes a lot of mp at lower levels without putting out the equivalent damage as a magic claw or something. Therefore, if you were to hold out SP until you have enough to put max points on, you won't waste as much on pots while still being able to do decent damage with it.

well the example I saw it in was in a build for a bishop I guess its because you need a mastery book so you can save up untill you get the mastery book?
