So how do I get this girl's attention?

My situation basically goes like this: It all started when i got detention from a supply teacher for being loud. I had to go to his music class for my detention on my lunch and then i saw this asian girl. She was soo hawt... So me being the joker that i am started making jokes to get the whole class laugh (including herself and the teacher) so i thought great she thinks im funny now. But i never got a chance to talk to her cuz I had to leave b4 the class was over. So that was about 2 months ago and i see her around but I never say anything to her and she doesnt even notice me. Shes friends with my ex from like 4 years ago (im in grade 10) and i havent talked to my ex in almost a year so i cant use her to get close to this other girl. So my question to you all is: What do i do? how do i find common ground with her or start a conversation because we hang out with different ppl (im more of a baller , athlete kind of guy in my school and she hangs out with all the Asians and musicians ) so it would be weird if i suddenly started talking 2 her. Even thou we have like 100 mutual friends on Facebook o.O

I'd just wait it out to see if she's in any of your classes in gr. 11, or just make common ground if there isn't any natural one.

I was trying to make that happen by switching classes twice but i still never got a class with her -___- plus i may be moving to the U.S in Fall so i might not see her again (Maybe)
