Me, my brothers, and my friends play it for fun, but I'm quite horrible at it. So any tips to help me improve with tennis? we usually don't play 1v1, so I'd only need to cover the front/back. One of my friends, his serves are just too fast, and even if i see it coming, i don't know how to hit it back without hitting it out. My other friend, he curves it, its coming at me then it suddenly goes the other way. Tips please.

for the friend with the fast serve, just train yourself to hit it at the right moment. the reason you're hitting it out of the court is because you hit it either too early or (most likely) too late, so it slides off the tip of the racket. for the other friend, since you know it curves the other way, just get ready to hit it that way? :p

Try returning the ball using their force against it. Topspin the ball/make the ball go just a little bit over the net and drop. THats how i play ^_^

fast/strong serves: you don't have to hit them back. if they're as powerful as I think they are, just adjust your racquet to whatever direction you want the ball to go in. (probably down the line if you're playing singles). you do not have to swing at this, just let it bounce off your racquet. dunno about those curved balls. can't tell if you're talking about a slice or a kick. you'll just have to pay more attention to how your opponent is positioned and his swing.

Fast topspins serves can be returned with a good topspin by yourself. Natural hand eye coordination should allow you to return the fast serve back if you aren't worrying about your power (Since if you're doing a topspin, it should stay within the court). For the curve, you have to chase it before it starts curving, a curve is only possible when the ball starts slowing down then it will curve due to the spin put on it. Adjust your racquet position accordingly with the curve and return the serve before it has time to curve a lot.

see if its a fast or strong ball, just tap it with your racquet in the direction you want it to go and its own momentum should carry it over. if its curved, do NOT hit it hard just try to get it over and then volley tennis is so much fun when you play against someone your equa and you just keep rallying it me and my friend were playing and we're pretty evenly matched so every time we got to a duece it would take at least 10min for one of us to get advantage. it was so fun and so annoying at the same time. Kayfabe has the right idea for the fast/strong balls

Don't swing your racket to hard when hitting others serves, just meet the ball on a decent angle so it doesn't fly up, but just goes over the net.

i'd return the fast serves with slice instead of going head to head with it. don't rush yourself cuz you dont think you have enough time, just keep the ball in front of you/your comfort zone. just have them practice serves at you a lot to get used to their speed. spinny serves...i hit a bunch but i hate returning them xD spinny serves, hit them early instead of waiting for them to get too high/out of reach :P

there's not an exact way to beat someone ._. but since u guys just play for fun, i'm sure if u just practice enough you'll eventually beat him :o *just remember, tennis is about whoever gets the ball over the net the most consistency > flashy shots ~
